Syn-free chips - mine look nothing like the pictures

Mine never looked like the pictures either - however, I made some today, but instead of parboiling the chips in salted water, I did it in bovril chicken stock. Once dried, I made the pan super hot, sprayed it with frylight, put the chips in (after shaking them) and dusted with some ground black pepper....came out super tasty, and they did not look half bad either!

I've got one of those potato chippers (from Lakeland) because I like 'em to look 'authentic' too...:D
 
I made them for the first time yesterday and they also looked anaemic with patchy brown! But they were so tasty! I don't care how they look as long as they taste good!
