The Leather Coat

A few months ago I purchased a beautiful full length leather coat off Ebay for the princely sum of £15.

I was over the moon.

When it arrived it was even better than it looked onscreen. I'm a bit of a retro chick and the style of it, everything is right up my street ... not to mention it is superb quality - made in California, USA according to the label, which also has a big 'L' on it (presumably for 'Large' ... ) so it couldn't have been better.

Until I came to put it on that is. Could barely get my pork sausage arms down the sleeves and as for trying to button it up? Well I can, sort of. But it looks like someone has stuffed a load of cushions into a leather bag. Or a load of giant spuds in a leather sack. All lumps and bumps and buttons strained to the hilt ... and it just looks a mess. Clearly a California 'Large' is not the same as a UK 'Large' or I am larger than I thought (most likely the latter). No way could I wear it. It just looked terrible, and has been hanging in my wardrobe all winter!

Anyway, four weeks on the SW plan (fourth weigh in tonight) and on a whim I just thought I'd try it on. I still can't do it up very well, and I still look a bit like a leather sack of spuds ... but the arms definitely slipped down the armholes a lot easier, and those buttons definitely aren't straining so much. I'm thinking ... if I keep this up I will be swanning around in me fancy leather coat come the autumn.

So I just wondered ... is there any one item of clothing you are unable to wear at the moment due to size issues ... that you can't wait to get into?

Yes, US sizing in different to UK, if i remember right a UK Medium is a US Large, and in womens sizing a size 14 is a US 18.

And yes, I have a dress thats a 14, i fit in it, but its tight, don't want to wear it until august though so by then it should fit a little easier I hope.

I have a pair of size 16 black trousers in my wardrobe that I last wore about 9 years ago.I remember feeling great in the cut of them, and my mum gave me a compliment in them and that is something she can never bring herself to do normally.

I got them out of the wardrobe last week and I can get them on, just need to lose about 2 stone before they will fasten though. I will get into them at some point.

Funnily enough, I bought a full length leather coat when I was about 12/13 so that's 9 years ago now, and I'd love the be able to fit into that properly again! It got ripped on the back though and my repair job was a bit rubbish x

I have a little pair of slim size 10 firetrap jeans I wore the date with my hubby about 6 years ago, I'm hoping to get in them but may after fold my fat in after havng 4 children in the last fve years lol
