The long road

So did an introduction post: hello!!! repeat offender! hopefully 5 year plan

A bit of a repeat from intro but:

So I’m a big single dad (recently having my son with me full time) from the southwest finally looking to shift the weight I’ve accumulated over 30 years.

I’ve Done slimming world multiple times at multiple groups and fairly good at losing lost around 20st over last 10 years (in chunks at times but gaining straight after) in total but always end up gaining more no matter how much I lose I’m also rubbish at keeping going till I hit target.

Used to travel a lot for work, staying away for multiple days it’s always been tricky but now gotta get act together.

Targets:
- aim to lose 5 stone in first 6 months
- aim to lose total 10 stone in 18 months
- aim to lose total 15 stone in 36 months
- aim to lose total 17 stone in 60 months

So hopefully I just need to look at the long term and keep going.

————————————————————————————————————————

Going to be doing slimming world and weigh in is a Thursday, I am going back to my first group in my home town where I lost over 7st originally, the consultant is great and has lost so much herself and kept it off...it’s amazing and very inspirational.

Also lucky that my older sister is also a consultant of multiple other groups and has done great over the last 10 years (even after multiple children).

My older brother is also an exercise freak and loves triathlons, I used to play a lot of rugby when younger, playing at a reasonable level before stopping however always found none competitive exercise quite a chore, I’m hoping to work with my brother eventually at understanding the long term benefits and improvements with exercise.

My little boy is a huge motivation and will keep me focused (I may go into greater details later, but it hasn’t been an easy time over last few years).

My aim is to just keep going and focus on really changing mindset.

So backdating a bit, 3/1/19:

Original weigh in and came at 29st 10.5lb although I wasn’t happy I had gained so much (around 5st) since I had last gone (about 8 months ago) I was glad that I wasn’t the heaviest I had ever recorded (was over 30st 8lb) back in 24/10/2016, gotta look at silver lining but still gutting.

So backdating a bit, 10/1/19:

So first week weigh in and lost 13.5lb!!! Really positive start but felt like I cheated a bit as didn’t do the shopping until the Monday, had fun doing some cooking with my little one and he is enjoying joining in when he can at group (his hand shot up when consultant asked who liked fruit).

So backdating a bit, 17/1/19:

So second week weigh in and lost 9lb!!! Really positive felt like I had been spot on with meals but at times munched on too many of the lunch box snacks late at night, won slimmer of the week so have a full supply of fruit!

Picked up my stone, stone and a half and slimmer of the week award

So backdating a bit, 24/1/19:

Third weigh in and had a disaster - gained 6lb :(, was really at a loss as what had happened felt like things had gone well but scales were not in my favour, I tried to think things through and first couple of days I had quite a few snacks and didn’t really track syns but still no idea how I gained so much.

I also for the first time developed gout in my foot, which completely left my immobile! I had to go to a specialist as it was originally confused for a broken foot (was in an unusual place between 2nd and 3rd toe), I have found out that a combination of rapid weight loss and increase in healthier food can actually cause gout!!! I feel sometimes forces conspire to stop weight loss.

Needless to say it was a bad week!

I stupidly didn’t stay to group mainly because as it is so busy with new year joiners there is little image therapy, instead I texted my sorrows to my sister who was great and talked me through a few things, I have focused on writing down my food diary this week and will be aiming to do it going forward, I’ll post it on here.

So this week is proving tougher than expected, for some reason even though I’m writing down my food I’m still actively choosing to have more syns than I should be, when I’ve done this before I’ve never really had an issue keeping in syns (allowance was also lower previously), I think I’m gunna set my self a goal of bringing my average syns down each week.

I really need to understand why I can’t get my head in the game, I usually don’t have a problem focusing :(

So just did some research and found out I have a super power, I’m super morbidly obese based on bmi, not really sure how things go so bad but key focus is to lose this super power, I need to get below 50bmi for my height it should be 26st 4.5lb so that will be my short term target then after that focus on a next target.

So 2st 3.5lb more to lose at mo, that seems more do able.

Weigh in and lost 13lb, hit my 2st award was really happy, with all the worry I had going into weigh in I am pleased I dropped a good number however I do need to be stricter with syns on average over the week (I did around 4 extra syns a day).
