Unusual syns help!!!

Hi, after living in South Africa for many years I really love their home delicacy "biltong" which (for anyone that doesn't know) is dried out and well seasoned meat.

What I would like to know is if it is possible to syn it or is it syn free. I am not attending classes and I can't afford £60 at the moment to join online so I am really hoping that someone can help me.

When I was previously on WW I managed to "point" it, but don't know whether it is synned or not.

So would you say it was a bit like jerky?

I think 20 calories is 1 syn, so guess you could work it out that way.

If you can get some nutritional info I could run it through the syn calculator for you. Would need calories/kjoules, protein, carbs and fats per 100g. Also if you know how much you'd usually eat I can work out syns per portion.

Unfortunately it is not packaged so there is no nutrient value, it is weighed out, similar to the butchers.

It is also abit different to "jerky" as jerky seems to have a sweet taste which I would think means it has had some form of sweetener added whereas biltong is more spicey.

Do you think there is anywhere that I can find out the nutritional value and work it out from there.......

I have a feeling that you can buy this (or at least some version of it) at Tescos. It was in the Wines and Spirits aisle, in a packet, hanging off a plastic strip display.

Even if the Biltong that you would want to buy is slightly different, I'm pretty sure that the Tesco pack had nutritional information on it. If you can copy down the details, post them in the syn query section on here and I'm sure that someone will look it up for you. That should at least give you a rough idea of values....

P.S. If you're wondering how I know so much.... I was looking at it in Tesco and trying to decide if it would be syn free... Didn't get chance to look at the info clearly enough to work out syns!!!!

I as hopefully hoping that it might be syn free but I think that might be wishful thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
