Week 3 WI - demotivated now :(

Hi all,

After losing 11lbs in my first week i think i got a bit too excited about how quick i was gonna lose all my weight! I lost 4lb in my second week and on my third weigh in tonight i only lost 3lb :(
(I havent cheated at all throughout btw)

I know in total its good and im pleased but i'm thinking i'm kinda starving myself and if im only gonna lose 3lb a week i might as well do weight watchers or my friend is doing slimming world and regularly loses 3lb a week...

Feeling bit low and demotivated so any kind words well appreciated :D

You have lost 18lb in 3 weeks and you are disappointed? You have done marvellously well but can't expect to have big losses every week. Your body adjusts to the diet and it is just impossible to lose massive amounts each week.

Look at the bigger picture and give yourself a pat on the back rather than feeling demotivated. This is my ???th time on CD and I have never lost such a hugh amount of weight in such a short time.

Don't give up! this happens and often is due to your cycle - I had a couple of slow weeks and then bigger losses. Three pounds is still alot of weight - I think after the first quick start about 4lbs is a good loss so you are still doing very well. Your friend on their slimming world etc diets will not maintain 3-4 lbs loss for as long as you will so take heart and DONT GIVE UP - you are doing fantastically well! It soon mounts up if you stick with it

Week 3 is notoriously slow, but 3lbs isn't!

You just can't compare your losses to others. Yours may continue to go quick, theirs may stall. They may have more to lose etc etc.

Fact is, that if you are taking in less calories then you are losing the fastest way that your body will allow. You can't make it quicker than this.

I understand how you feel but wow girl you have done great...imagine how you would feel if you were still the weight you were. Stick at it girl.

as someone else has said its impossible to compare yourself to how your friend is doing on SW because she's not you. From memory when I first did CD last year the average amount that you would lose is 3-4lbs a week after the initial weight loss. So you are losing exactly what you should be losing and 3lbs a week is a good loss - that's not far off a stone a month! Plus I don't know of a single other diet out there where you would expect to lose 11lbs in your first week so you were probably already around 3 weeks ahead compared to another diet at week one.

The other thing with CD is that even if you don't necessary see the losses on the scales I've found that my shape changes quicker on this diet than it ever does on any other diet.

I'm not judging as it may be that you can lose that amount on WW or SW but in reality most people turn to CD because other diets just don't work for them. A friend of mine recently said something about being able to lose 2lbs a week on WW without having to starve and I pointed out that actually in my case I've tried that and it just doesn't happen. The difference with CD is not just the ability to lose weight quickly but the ability to totally retrain yourself on how you eat without the temptation of food on the way and for a lot of people thats one of the big advantages.

Only you know why you chose CD over the other diet options but remind yourself of what they were and I bet that its meeting them - stick with it and you'll get over the blip and feel so glad that you did xx

HI - I understand how you feel. i myself have only lost 2lb this week but I'm just looking at the bigger picture of how much I've lost overall. (I'm mad at myself as I ate this week, so I'm more determined than ever now). Would you have lost 18lb in 3 weeks on sw, I doubt it.

I just wanted to say that I have felt like this on occassions too, why am I doing such a strict diet when I could be doing slimming world eating lots and still loosing this much.....but would you really be??

I know that when I'm on SW or WW, I get a great result for the first week, say 4-5lbs, then it dwindles to 2lbs, and even 1lbs or 0.5lbs.... the good thing about CD is that its consistant weight loss, you WILL lose weight every week, you HAVE to, you're only having around 500cals! It's science! lol!

So I would just take a step back and give yourself a slap on the back for the weight you've lost so far!

Week 3 is notoriously difficult, I think this is the week doubts start to creep back in - they def did for me. But if you push past those doubts and just stick to it, you'll be at goal in no time! And THEN you can swap to a SW way of eating, if you want to!

And just remember, we CAN control what we put in our mouth / how much exercise we do, we CAN'T control what the scales say!

Hi everyone and thanks for all your lovely messages. They have really helped as I was feeling really down after my WI on Tuesday...
By reading your messages it sounds like week 3 is quite hard for everyone in terms of how much you lose and also psychologically!! I'm battling through though and have started the bars this week too so its quite nice to have something to munch on finally!!
Hopefully I'll see a bigger loss next week but if not its true - I need to stand back and look at the bigger picture and give myself a pat on the back, or a hug even, teehee....

Another thing you could try doing is to have a SS+ week, (it's not even a step up on the plan so dont panic!) but having the 200cal will give your body a welcome change and may burn those pounds off! xxxx

If you don't have a good loss again this week then it might be worth discussing with your CDC whether to step up to 810 plan or similar. I had the same discussion with mine today - I was pretty much static from week 3 and not losing then I totally cheated but strangely lost (although only 1.5lbs this week following the cheat). I'm only 1 stone away from goal so that might be why as I only had 2 stone to lose this time anyway but she also told me that for some people they actually struggle to lose weight on the lower calories and sometimes they lose more if there body has more to work on. Sounds strange I know but she said it also happens like that for her and she knows that she can't do SS as she doesn't lose as much as she does on the slightly higher calories.

3lb is a fantastic loss - I've only lost that a couple times - my losses are very low on CD compared to some but the way I look @ it, I lose every week - however small & I find that althouth it doesn't always show on the scales as I want it to - the inches are melting away & the sizes changing - it's just a number at the end of the day & overall will even out.

If you look at my losses week 3 was a pretty crappy loss and like you I was seriously demotivated.

However, since then my losses have gone up and up. I don't expect to have great losses every week but the way I'm looking at it is any pound lost is a pound closer to my goal.

I have faith in the diet as I know the diet works. A big well done on your loss so far.
