Well hello out there :)

Okay, just joined the forum and this is my first post, just to say hello and to get the ball rolling.

I'm about to start Exante TS after months and months of deliberation and dipping in and out of more conventional diet (or way of eating) plans. I did the Cambridge Diet many moons ago and it worked - I lost the (then) 4st as planned and enjoyed being at my target weight for nigh on 3 years after. Then I lost my way.

So, as happens with many of us, I gained it all back and some and now I'm facing pretty much double that. What I realise is that I never learned how to maintain my weight loss - a critical factor in all weight loss plans and I have to admit I got into a bit of a negative mind set about my weight. So I stopped worrying and accepted it as the pounds and stones piled on.

So why am I back - I hear you say, well its simple really. The fact is I'm morbidly obese (as the medical professionals like to call me) and its not only affecting my health (high blood pressure, threat of type 2 diabetes) but its also affecting my life in general.

For quite some time now I've made excuses not to go out and socialise, so much so that people have simply stopped asking me. It seems I've become a bit of a social hermit and I'm also looking for ways to avoid seeing family whose path I've not crossed in a while (not good).

I'm bigger now than at any other time in my life and if I don't do something now - then I fear for my future.

Anyways - enough of the doom and gloom. The good news is that I've made a decision and have placed my Exante order. I'm not sure if I'll dive in straightaway (its a next day delivery thing) or ease myself into the first week of carb withdrawal by reducing my carb intake over the next few days. I know week 1 is a killer and the first weekend will be a test of willpower -but I also know if you can get over that first week or two, the rest is relatively easy (well doable).

My plan - such as it is, is to use the food replacement plan up to Christmas and I would expect to lose close to 4 stone by then. Then all being well I'll likely join Slimming World. I know a good few co-workers are doing that and getting good results and I like the idea of not counting calories. Of course I could have joined SW now and taken a slightly longer route, but I need to see quick results to get me on track. Had I not been successful with a VLCD before I probably wouldn't go there - but its familiar to me (and I know what I'm letting myself in for).

Well - that's my introduction over and I'll be popping over to the Exante forum very soon..
