What annoys you about your slimming world class

Our consultant doesnt do image therapy. Well she didn't last week anyways .....
so what exactly is she getting paid for? lol xxxx

I was a new member ( joined in the past) instead of me being in the new member area she asked me to weigh in and sit with main group. Then she did a very quick talk through the plan. And that was it.... I'm hoping that was a one off :s cos I really need support!

It sounds like she was doing a new member talk for the whole group tho-some consultants do that from time to time

I am SOOOO glad it's not just me who has trouble with classes and the fact that everyone knows everyone. I've been to WW and to SW classes, different consultants, different groups and not had that instant friendship thing people bang on about!

A lot of it's probably my own trouble socialising in situations that throw you together with people you've never met, but I've tried in each group to get chatting and it's just never happened, I always feel like I'm intruding so just sat there trying to occupy myself.

I too am considering group after an unsuccessful stint doing SW online but I don't think group support would make any difference to me, I certainly don't want a group of people staring at me while I talk about my loss/gain, I would only be thinking that they're noticing my faults!

Sorry, rant over, might be best to stick to online!

Oh and what else annoys after reading some of the above is, I always take time to help/ explain/ list off all my cooking / recipes / my weight loss/ exercise / tips etc with anyone new, instead of catching up with my class buddy ,I'm also money lady ,soave little time with bum on seat, like everyone else waiting. BUT it's starting to naff me off that these people's ive spent my time helping, do not return to class the next week.
We are only a tiny group,it's obviously we're friendly, not daunting,I have no clue why they don't come back, bar just wanting the books and tips never to be seen again :(
Which is kind of making me not want to help and stand have gossip with buddy instead x

I liked my group well enough when I was loosing, but it was a big group (I think up to 60 weighing in) with over 30 staying. By the time she went round everyone it there was only time for a really quick SOTW (never did SOTM) and the raffle. She did do a short what's coming up this week, e.g. Easter sometimes. No Body Magic though at all and you could never get her for a minute to talk in private.

I stopped staying once I got to target as I initally only did it to try and get £5 worth out of the hour and a half I stayed (for 20 min useful). It was quite cliquey too. I can chat to a lampost but while they'd answer you politely I normally spent my time looking about me.

I went to another group for a while with a friend. The C hadn't started long and had books to look through to see if you liked them, did body magic etc... Just seemed a lot more interested.

I like my consultant but sometimes get a bit miffed with the "I worked a night shift last night, so excuse me if I'm tired"
Then you get a half hearted attempt at group.
I went to a new group last week and will be going for 12 weeks, the consultant had really made an effort to decorate the room with informative pictures etc. This lady is the area supervisor, so perhaps being full time means she has more time. I wish I could have stayed to group but I go to a course.

I don't think my C is good at all but there are no other classes that suit me and I don't have the willpower not to go to class.

I go each week and she doesn't even speak to me. She never weighs us, we never get any contact during the week. Recently I gained 6lbs in one week and still didn't get anything said to me or her texting to check I was ok with everything. I lost the 6pm the week after and didn't get so much as a well done.

Someone else in group reached target and the C didn't even say anything other than a half arsed well done.

The group is depleting and I can't help but think it's because of her. I don't stay for group anymore because it was simply going around everyone and her saying how much they lost and NOTHING else.

I get really angry when I hear about people with supportive C's. We didn't even have man/woman if the year.

You say you don't have the willpower to go it alone, but that is what you're doing really. There's no motivational work helping your willpower. You just get weighed. Is save my money if I were you!

I've joined a fair few SW groups in my time, and various things have spoilt it - kids running around screaming/ small cliquey groups/ people chatting loudly while the Consultant is talking to the group/ 'characters' being very loud and taking over etc etc This time, I've found the ideal group! It's on at 4.30, which means I can go straight after work and have my dinner afterwards at a reasonable time, the Consultant doesn't have favourites and is very motivating and if people talk too loudly amongst themselves during Image Therapy, she asks them (nicely!) to shut up. Also, there are no noisy children there which is a bonus. A couple of children stay, but tend to read or colour or play on their DS.

I could of wrote exactly the same!!! I hate it when op talk through Image therapy, its just so rude!!

There's a few things that bug me about our group but i've been to a few and they all seem the same....don't get me wrong its lovely to have people get excited about weight loss and clap at everyone's achievements but I'd rather spend time talking things through/tasting things/swopping recipes etc, not the same old "Well done Marlene, 1lb off"

I don't stay to group because the "x lost 2 lb, clap clap clap, how did you get on, clap clap clap" just annoys me, it's not motivating at all!

My consultant really annoys me, she is so slow. She can say the wrong thing and can be quite rude at times- in the past telling me I never smile and always look so miserable even when I have big looses-in front of everyone (not helpful when I have serve mental health problems)

I would move groups because she annoys me so much but my group is good day and time, a very small group which is easier to manage with my anxiety and I love the regulars in the group (one of which I've made good friends with outside the group) and chatting with them and sharing tips.

In some fairness to her though she is really good at congratulating people on losses, we do do SOTW and SOTM and bigger awards through the year. And she always sends a text to everyone every week during the week, trying to motivate and offering help to anyone who wants it.

You all know talking isn't compulsory? Just tell her to skip over you or torching your loss then clap and move on. What I'm beginning to realise is it's OUR group, and we shape it.
I think it would be better to congratulate people on losses, ask them if they have any tips to share and move on.

One week a new lady complained that she needed an evening snack so was going off plan, then everyone gave her different tips. The following week she said she'd dome what someone suggested and made a free platter in the morning to have that night so she got her snack!
If only that were every week!

My C is brilliant, she joined as a new member in January and has just trained as a C, then relaunched our group on 8th September. She started at the same weight I did and has the same target as me, since January she has lost just over 4.5st and it is amazing seeing how different she looks now, even since I joined. Truly inspiring! I joined in May and haven't got my 1 stone award yet but im happy losing slowly and knowing I will look so different at target.

She did so much promotion that on her relaunch night there were 45 new members, 94 people in total! She did so well, had to give a new member talk to the entire room though understandably, was a great refresher though. She was given the go ahead to do a second, earlier group the next week. I am a bit gutted because lots of the people I used to chat to now go to that one but I'm chuffed for my C!

When I spent a morning delivering leaflets for her we went out for a drink that night and she paid lol!

We have all the certificates, SOTW, SOTM she encourages Body Magic and we're having our first taster evening in a couple of weeks. We have a SOTW basket which everyone contributes to, and then 1 or 2 raffle prizes, usually ingredients for a new recipe to try which is great.

I love my group, and really enjoy keeping up with everyone's journeys. I do the weighing and that keeps me on track and wanting to go to group each week.

Fitting in was made easier for me because I always took my very own conversation starter - my baby son! He was 5 weeks old when I joined, and as he is breastfed I couldn't leave him with hubby. To start with I'd chat until he started moaning and then sit at the back to feed him, feeling a bit left out. The temporary C we had then would really quickly go over my loss and then divert attention away from me though in case I made anyone uncomfortable. As Noah got older it was easier as I fed him before I went and he'd just lie quite happily on the floor playing so I could be more involved. Now I get told off for not taking him as he's usually asleep before I go! People are as interested in how much weight he's put on in a week as they are in how much everyone else has lost!
