What can I add to my Cambridge ss meals?

Rolly82

not giving up
Hello everyone

I am on my first week of ss and wanted to know if there is anything I can add to the soups? I love the porridge but find some of the soups not the best to my taste. I am determined to stick to this and would like to know if I can add pepper to the soup? I am not too bothered at the minute as it is only my first week I am just a bit worried for when I get further on in the weeks i may find myself struggling.

Thanks everyone, your stories are very inspirational :)

xx

I think pepper is fine, no salt, some people add curry powder too, in sparing quantities.

Thanks you so much for that I am only on Day 2 and I am just trying to prepare myself for the worst. I'm ok at the minute as I know how much I want to do this but I just know I may be a little less strong come next week especially if I don't see a weight loss on my weigh in on Sunday.

Amazing results you have by the way, you weight loss has just spurred my through my next pint of water whilst typing xx

thanks rolly.

you will see a loss week 1, if you stick to it. My loss was about as low as they get, and even that looks pretty good for one week, right?

drink the water and stay on the wagon. it can be done. as of yesterday i did 12 weeks SS with no cheats, blips or breaks.

wow 12 weeks that is some going!!! Do you mind me asking, did you tell anyone you were doing it? I have only told two people (as I had no choice in the matter) as I can't face the negativity I will no doubt get. I am going to become a recluse til Christmas I think! :)

yeah - i told everyone.

i haven't had any negativity - but perhaps that's because i was morbidly obese, and most of my friends know i've come to this as an absolute last resort. also - i have a sharp tongue and i think people know that anyone giving me negativity would be put very firmly in their place with a barrage of facts, figures and withering looks!

it meant that people have been completely understanding about me eating a CD bar during their wedding meal, or missing some social things because it's fairly dull being the only sober one. My family had a get-together meal on saturday and my mum booked me a facial so i didn't have to sit and watch them eat! I'm the kind of person who tells people stuff anyway, but the more people know, i think the easier it is to stick to your guns.

In contrast I haven't told anyone (except my OH)
It's actually surprising how few people notice if I'm not eating!
Just decide whatever works for you!

I didn't intend to tell people, but in the end loads of people know because i haven't been a recluse and it's fairly obvious to those you socialise with. I think the not drinking is more obvious than the not eating. People will assume you've already eaten or not notice you're not eating quite easily, but if you refuse a pint, it gets noticed!

Thanks everyone the help is much appreciated I will no doubt start getting asked questions if I'm pregnant if I'm not drinking ... I only hope that the mistake is made for that reason and not coz I look pregnant when I'm not for once in my life ;)

I wish I was as tough as to tell them where to go but you have made me laugh. The facial idea was brilliant I may start pointing my other half in your direction and you could give him some nudges into buying me a facial, new handbag, new shoes, new car.... I could go on!

Thanks all xx

I only told a few people at first because they are the people I spend most time with and they would notice but as the weight has ccome off I've found myself telling more people because they want to know how I'm doing it.
I had to research VLCD and ketosis so I would be able to answer the negative comments, like, it's dangerous and the weight will pile straight back on again. People don't understand how it works (why would they if they are not on it!) and make assumptions about it based on nothing, so I had to know what I was talking about so I could 'defend' my choice of diet and the reasons why I chose to do it in the first place. I shouldn't have to but people are nosy and know-it-alls :)

My cdc told me that i can add any herbs and spices to my soups. I cover the top in pepper and also add hot chilli powder and mixed herbs. Unfortunatley, they do sink to the bottom, so you have to keep stirring! I love the soups! Especially the leek and the chicken...keep going! Alos, you manual tells you that you can add herbs and spices xx

Hi Rolly 82:), its nice to be starting the same time as other people - hopefully we can spur each other on!!!:D Good luck with today. I'm still feeling good today - mind you its only 8.30 in the morning!!! lol.... Ask me again at 6pm :)

Hi all

Funnily enough today I feel great is this the euphoria feeling I was promised? Crazy I feel like I have a new lease of life today all bright eyes and bushy tailed. I don't feel hungry at all and full of energy. Although I must say my tummy is making some very odd noises.

Hope your day is as good as mine so far. I am defo going to have to sort my packs out for next week. I only chose the soups and porridge as I don't really have a sweet tooth (even though my thighs would tell you differently!) I have been writing down what I have had so far an putting a tick and a cross next to them so I can stock up on the ones I like for next week. I also got them all my remaining ones out til Sunday and wrote the days on them, sad but true. I have found that it helps me prepare and kind of look forward to what I have got. I am defo finding the plain porridge my fave and most filling I have swapped from having them for breakfast to having them for tea as the evening is when I find the hardest for being a little pickers in big knickers :)

I think I may try and split one of my porridges in two tonight as I was up mega early today so hopefully that will see me through a bit longer so I don't end up going to bed at 7pm lol
