Have been doing slimming world for 7 weeks, I lost 4 1/2 lbs then gained it back. I follow green being a veggie so lots of carbs! I have eaten lots on plan but the weight is creeping back on. For the past 2 days I have followed nothing but eaten lots of popcorn and flapjack, feel so fed up being fat. I don't know whether to switch diets or will they all fail me? Does SW really work? I was thinking of giving ww a try or hypnosis? Do I stick with my current diet (paid up till end of jan ) or switch? I have lost my mojo :-( I need to lose 4 stone and was hoping to shift some by my 40th at the end of Feb.

Hi Crunchy, I'm doing SW and am a green girl as well, being a veggie. We have got similar stats too (except I'm shorter!) I found that SW really does work if you keep at it - I reached target a year ago fell off plan and then got back to target a couple of months ago. To be successful at SW I think you do need to exercise some portion control - but you may already (I use the single serving guidelines you find on some food labelling). I know my losses slowed at one point as I was eating too many mullers, mugshots, bananas and grapes (shedloads of these!). I resolved to have three square meals a day and only snack on superfree (not to excess though) and the weight started moving again. Don't give up - the plan works if you work it!

I promise it does work and green days don't have to be all about carbs. Personally I'm a carb monster but the weight is coming off so can't complain really. I know that doesn't work for everyone though. You can do a lower carb version of green and still have a healthy diet so maybe that's worth a go? I also measure my pasta and rice and try to stick to the recommended portion sizes on the packet for both.

Follow the plan to the letter, vary what you eat, eat as much veg as you can fit in, drink lots of water and have all if your syns if you need to. You shouldn't ever be hungry. When I get into a rut I get my cookbooks out and find new things to eat - getting excited about cooking again really helps!

I would honestly stick with it a while longer and see how you go but if you do end up wanting to change there's nothing wrong with that either.

Good luck! xxx

SW does work, I lost 4 stone on it. Unfortunately over the last few years it has all gone back on again as I lost my way with it and I tried to get back into it a few times and it just wasn't happening. I had hypnosis a couple of years ago and it completely changed the way I think about food. I now have to lose all my weight again (which is a little soul destroying) and I will be doing it with the aid of a hypnosis app and mindful eating.

I was quite sad to leave my last group as the leader was great but for me it just wasn't working any more. Not every plan will suit every person. I did green days as I'm not a big meat eater and I too am a carb monster. I love pasta and potatoes.

I would say give it til the end of January and see if you can get into a groove with it, and if you find it's not working for you find something that does
