Should I follow an exercise regime if I am following a certain diet to become slim?

I'd say try and do both, what kind of diet are you on? I've not noticed any weakness in my weight lifting since starting my SW diet last month, I just try to schedule my meals so I eat 1-2 hours before the gym.

    Exercise at 16st?

Yes you want to try a routine with high intensity interval training, with will raise your metabolism so you will continue to burn fat after you leave the gym.

My motivation is to support my wife who is also on the diet and also to reduce my BMI to a health level if I can. Also looking to lose weight to help with my powerlifting totals at the gym.

    Started exercise... what happens now?

I certainly notice more change of "shape" than weight loss to start with, trade off between losing fat and gaining muscle I suppose?

I didn't believe it either, how can you lose weight and still eat potatoes, pasts and rice?? Three weeks in now and I've lost 6.6kgs. I do notice more belly rumbling than I did before but just have some syn free fruit or yoghurt.
