    I have electronic scales and you can change the settings to pounds, stones and pounds, and kilos. They weigh you normally, or you can measure your body fat % or water %. They're great...but I find I just end up looking at the weight and not all the other stuff : )

    Yes, but if your brain gets rewired in one way, then surely it can get 'de-wired' again. I think mine certainly has. One thing is guilt about food. Change that guilty feeling and 'bad foods' lose their power over you. If I want chocolate now, I have it. Guess what? I rarely eat chocolate now...

    Not sure about this, it is still making a division between 'fat' people and thin people. In the real world there are incredibly thin people, normal sized people, and larger people, I would like to see all these body sizes and heights and races featured in magazines instead of a specialist...

    Well, the OP says that they can't stop eating and don't recognise when they are full. I would say to start with this issue. Sounds as if food is not merely nutrition for you, but some kind of compulsion which has nothing to do with hunger. I would start by eating the same foods you already...

    I think it is a good idea...but...to perhaps allow yourself a few extra indulgences over the festive period. That way, you get to celebrate, but will keep your food/drink intake somewhat under control. Whereas if you didn't start dieting you'd be in the mindset "who cares, I'll just stuff myself...
