    weight and dress size

At my heaviest, 18 stone 3lb, I think I was a size 24. I say think, as I always avoided dresses with zips (bought cotton ones you pull over your head) and bought jeans in Evan's or Inspire (New Look) and I think there plus size sizes are quite generous but fitted into a 20. 15 stone 3.5lb now...

    Weight watchers fruit sours!!! Argh

For anyone who has IBS or even slight IBS, do not buy any of the weight watchers sweets they sell in the classes. I have bought and tried nearly all the ones the sell in the Irish classes and after eating about half the packet (about 7 sweets), I got the WORST stomach cramps I have got and they...

    Alcohol and losing weight

Hi all :) Just wondering your opinions on alcohol and weight loss? Now, I am not talking a huge amount of alcohol regularly, just a few drinks a few times a week. I (like many many others) cannot afford to go out as often as I used to (I go out about once a month max) so I really look forward...

    Chinese

I know when I was doing Weight Watchers, a chow mein (with chicken or prawns or just veg) was the lowest pointed option. It really does depend on the size of the portion your local chinese gives you. My Fitness Pal might have the calories in certain dishes.

    Advice Please Help?

I would recommend calorie counting, using a website/app such as My Fitness Pal. It is so easy to do and you can still eat what you like within reason. It is not a quick fix though. In my opinion, quick fixes (such as lipotrim) do not work in the long run. Best of luck :)

    a happy calorie counter

I am loving calorie counting aswell (also using MFP). It has made me much more accountable and made me realise if I want to eat a bigger portion or let my hair down at the weekend, I need to work up the extra exercise calories.

Weighing every day... how do I stop it?!

My dietitian told me to get my husband to hide my scales and take it out once a week because she thinks that the daily (or few times a day) weighing was seriously affecting my weight loss (see a good result, think oh I can have a bit of chocolate then, see a bad result that is not deserved...

    Thursday Weighers?

Yeah I think I might need to seriously shake things up (but I hate change lol). I have been trying to lose weight since November 2011. I lost almost 4 stone within 8 months and then regained about 16lb between August and January. Since January I had only lost 5.5lb on Weight Watchers so that's...

is weight to blame for low self esteem/confidence?

Weight is DEFINITELY a huge contributor to low self esteem but you can't think that all your problems and confidence issues will go away once you lose the weight. Yes you will be more confident, but there will always be that voice in your head. You have to learn to love yourself (I should heed...

    BED

I had a major slip up on Tuesday. Let's just say there wasn't much left of a certain TIN of biscuits :( Oh the shame. But the one thing I am proud of is that I logged it all on MFP (first time I have ever logged all of a binge) so hopefully I am one small step in the right direction...

    Secret eaters!! Ch 4

Definitely should have been called "Deluded Eaters". They were not secret eaters at all, they just ate more than they thought they ate. I would love to watch a show/documentary on true secret eating and binge eating.

Am i too fat for rides?

I too have this worry as some of my friends are planning a trip to Alton Towers in the summer. I read on their website that if your girth is more than 52/54 inches, that you won't be able to go on some rides. Your girth is the circumference of the biggest part of your body, so I would be...

Hi girls. Hope you don't mind me joining in. I think I have B.E.D too although I have not gone to a doctor or anything about it. I too have had it since I was a child (funny enough it started around the time of my parents messy divorce). I haven't overcome it yet but what I have found that helps...

Do i use my activity points ?

If you find yourself actually hungry and have no points left, then you can use some of your activity points on healthy, nutritious food (not a good idea to waste them on junk). If you don't use your weeklies, I would definitely recommend eating your activity points as your body might not get...

    THURSDAY WEIGH IN

First week of calorie counting (having previously lost 3 stone with Weight Watchers) and lost 2lb at last Thursday's weigh in. Can't wait to weigh in this Thursday, hope I have lost the same amount or a bit more, had a really good week food and exercise wise :)

What is a pro point on weight watchers

Instead of points being calculated on sat fat and calories it is calculated on protein, carbs, total fat and fiber. (If you are planning on joining, I strongly recommend you buy the propoints calculator) You will also have a different daily points allowance and all the points for food have...

    New girl desperately seeking inspiration/motivation!

Good luck. The best thing I have learned on my various weight loss journey's are that if you slip up, just get back to plan straight after and try and not feel too guilty. Guilt can drive you into a downward spiral. We are all human and we all make mistakes, we just need to learn from them :)

    So Frustrated!!

I know it does sound crazy (and scary) but you really should try upping your calories. On the information you gave (age, height, sex, weight), I calculated your BMR which is 1450 calories. This is the amount of calories your body needs just to function (as if you were in a coma). If you eat too...

"Starvation" mode.... wonder if anyone can answer my question

There is a lot of talk on My Fitness Pal about how you should never eat under your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate - the calories your body needs just to function, as if you were in a coma). So let's say your BMR is 1600, and you eat 1600 that day but you burn off 400, they say you should eat your...

    CALORIE COUNTING ?

If you go to the website Free Calorie Counter, Diet & Exercise Journal | MyFitnessPal.com you can set up a profile and it will calculate your daily calories for you. If you exercise you earn calories and you can eat them back if you need to but if you find that you are not even hungry at all...

Can Someone Please Suggest Me a Weight Loss Plan?

If you have been doing low calorie for a while, your body could be in a "mini starvation mode" and will cling onto the fat and any food you give it because it thinks it needs to preserve as much as possible. I would suggest, as Rigby said, to do basic calorie counting. My Fitness Pal has an app...

"Can three minutes of exercise a week help make you fit?"

This sounds too good to be true but I actually believe it. Have recently started looking into HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). Now my fitness would not be the best, I just walk for exercise. But definitely think I might start doing my own little routine of walking with a few sprinting...

'Britain's fattest teenager' regains weight after losing 14st

This is just awful. I feel for her with her family situation but it is no excuse to put 14 stone on in just a couple of years. I find it unimaginable that you could let yourself regain all that weight after losing it, fair enough if it was a few stone but 14 stone, I would be sick with myself!

As I said earlier, I am on 1370 as set by MFP which supposedly will give me a loss of 1.5lb. Just wondering after reading your posts, should I be on more? Losing 140 lbs in 10 months! How to do it?

Definitely recommend on the advice above re losing it slower. If you lose that amount of weight that fast, you will end up with a HUGE amount of saggy skin and possibly stretch marks and there is a big liklihood that you will need surgery to remove the skin before you can be completely happy...

How many calories do you eat?

I am on 1370 using MFP and that is supposedly enough to give me a loss of 1.5lb per week, even with eating back exercise calories. Haven't weighed in yet but can't wait to see the result on the scales. Hoping calorie counting can give my weightloss a new lease of life :D

Writing this after just finishing a bowl of biscuits.

Why don't you up your kcals to 1,200 and see how you get on? Also, definitely +1 on the exercise. Even 30 minutes exercise builds up a nice amount of calories to play with if you have gone over or want to eat an extra potatoe with your dinnner (or a handful of chips in work ;) )

Foods that are low in calories

This thread is great. Thanks for all the tips. So annoying though in Ireland, you can't get a lot of the lovely low kcal things you guys mentioned. We have an awful selection of low fat, low calorie things! No wonder we are making good progress on getting to the top of the list of obese countries!
