20 somethings

Oh what are you studying? I miss uni so much. I'm a stay at home mum. Son is called Nate so if you see me banging on about him you won't be confused. which reminds me, I need to show you all something...

My son calls this muma... I am not impressed!!!

Sorry fran but this did make me lol! X

Fran---maybe it's the luscious locks?!?

A three day week would be lush!im training to be a health visitor. As of today. It a year. Pretty intense from what I understand - but worth it in the end. I'm a mental health nurse by trade.....so bit of a change!! X

How u finding it? I work in the mental health trust and there was a big drive for health visitors only a while ago x

Aaaaaah I'm so excited! Just found a webcam in the ski resort we are going to, this is right outside our hotel and in 2 weeks time I will be here! :)

<img src="http://www.minimins.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=73758"/>

I bet ure well excited! X

I'm looking forward to the flurry of WI activity tomorrow! I hope it's good news for everyone!

It feels like bedtime to me. Spinning was really good - I kept up well and it just flew by. I was the sweatiest I've ever been - absolutely glistening! One of the hardcore instructors explained that more of your skin sweats as you get fitter because skin is an organ and you are training it to perform at its best to keep you cool - well, it sounded good to me! The only this is I've been exhausted all afternoon.

I also had to have words with my member of staff AGAIN. The system admin removed all the games from the system after I had a word with him last time about playing Minesweeper. I walked in today and found him playing Bejeweled on his phone!! What makes it worse is phones are banned in our building for security reasons so he should have it off completely at all times. He took it alright. The work we do involves a lot of waiting around for things to finish processing, so I know he gets bored waiting. I do exactly the same sort of work but because I have other roles in work I just use my 'free' time to do jobs for those roles instead.

I've just realised it's actually home time - hooray! Now to decide what's for tea...

Oh dear work sounds fun! Spinning looks lethal but bet its well good at the fat burning! X

Hello all :) very tired today back to work is kicking in! Ie got a student teacher coming to my class for a month starting tomorrow, I really don't feel good enough to have a student haha. It's scary, in so aware she's there an watching how I deal with the class she's only a first year and its her first placement so at least she's not got much to compare me to haha.

Had some more chicken mushroom and tarragon pass bake for my lunch, oh it's really tasty. Def one to make again.

My official post Christmas weigh in tomorrow, but had a peek yday and it was 10st 10.5 so not a horrible gain, hopefully will be down a bit tomorrow evening

They must think that your fabulous enough for a student but know what u mean when we have students I always get nervous they will think I'm rubbish or ill teach em something really wrong!x

Aww good luck Jo :)

I understand Emily. I remember talking to all the staff about phones at the till and if they were at the till they must either have a customer or someone filling up so mustn't be using their phone and if I caught anyone doing it the phone would go in the sage until shift end. I didn't mind checking a message when working but they'd either do no work or people were starting to steal fuel. It ended up being memos reminding them of their contract and signing it as a refresher. Same when fags were going missing as well as lottery and scratchcards not adding up. Memo reminding them, to be signed and put in their folders so if they were dicking around, or not following training (such as a member of staff giving someone fags and saying "it is ok I know you are good for it the day after a meeting about fags going missing. I was just a sales assistant and my mouth dropped open. We had been counting cigarettes in and out of each shift for weeks and she was just doing her own thing. Drove me mad. She left in the end after trying to get me fired.

Stupid staff. The memos covered us because they couldn't plead ignorance.

Oh scarlet that boy sounds a pain, I dunno how you put up with it. Do they do anything nice tomorrow?

Good luck Jo! How long has it been since you last went? I am really excited about holiday thanks, will drive you all mad with If i havent already! X

Fran I was speaking to a friend of the mums over the weekend, bumped into her in tesco, she asked how I put up with him and his attitude so at least I know it's not just me causing it or being over sensitive! Think I just have to deal with him how i do when I'm there but I know as soon as I leave they both get their own way 100% of the time. Tomorrow is nothing special, older one goes swimming so its my late night, hopefully means I can get little one bathed and to bed at a reasonable time so at least he is in a good mood on Thursday!

Soaps and holby tonight, cuddles on the sofa and maybe some knitting. :)

Ohhhh fran?!? Everyone thinks health visitors are nightmares??? Tell me why? It's interesting......I'd hate not up be helpful. I think the mental health nurse in me keeps me warm and nice.....I've been a public health nurse within the health visiting team the last three months, and had good reports, with people requesting me. So fingers crossed.........!!

Lyric, you have NO excuse. I'd love to be able to pop home for lunch. Didn't have lunch to four today and that was only a mug shot. Too busy for a student I am!

Has everyone had good days today?

X

Oh gosh. Just realised or missed out a whole two pegs of theads

Wasnt being rude! I just clicked reply on the page I was on :-/

Must dash. Writing and reading in the car makes me sick :-/

Urgh. Hope wee one does go to bed early so you get at least one nice boy tomorrow. Nate was an utter **** this morning and it was down to being tired, even though he slept the normal amount. I picked a magazine off the floor and he ripped it out of my hands and threw it across the room. he went onto the naughty pouffe. haha. he was good in the afternoon though, we did miss toddlers because he slept for way longer.

Sam, to be honest I saw 3, one was annoying me about PND, I told her the test was stupid and redundant because anyone could feel like that at any time, and given I have a history of clincal depression the test is pointless because it is easy to cheat, the "right" answers are obvious, so if I could just get on with things and go in if I needed help that'd be better. I wouldn't have been so blunt but she wouldn't shut up. She then went round my back to my mum, who then told her the same as what I did. Yay! but she didn't have the right stuff with her, had to use mum's blood pressure machine, and skip some tests until another time. Another one was ok. The second useless one measure nate so he was shorter at 6 months than he was at birth. I pointed it out and she said "oh well". Then when he was 9 months old I was told Nate was getting fat :/ He hadn't had any chocolate or "bad foods" at that point, and his weight was still quite a few percentiles less than his length (which was/is off the chart) and she then told another mum that the height and weight percentiles should match and that's a sign that they're healthy, while I was still there. So two different sets of advice, but because my son is a giant it was wrong he was heavy (but not on the same centile as his height), but because this woman's little girl was on the 10th centile for both it was A-OK. I haven't been for almost a year since then. I had to take him to a hospital appointment when he was one, and he got weighed and measured there and I was told his size was perfect. So generally disliked them for that. the condescending tone one of them had didn't help my opinion either.

Anyone else got Supersize vs Superskinny on? new series. hurrah.

Hehe it's impossible to keep up with these ladies chatting sometimes :)

Yum just had sausage, chips, egg and mushrooms while everyone else scoffes kebabs and fried chicken and I think im more satisfied than them

The one thing I really miss is proper chippy chips with a battered sausage. Given that a battered sausage is about 450 cal I'm thinking at least 22.5 syns, so 40 syns for the lot? Do you think that's about right?

I used to have that pretty much once a week before I joined SW last time - heaven knows how! (Actually I do: It's yummy!)

Good luck Jo! How long has it been since you last went? I am really excited about holiday thanks, will drive you all mad with If i havent already! X

Haven't been to sw since August but fleeced with the other side for a while. Oh and u aren't driving me mad about the hols x

So back from wi was lovely to be back plenty of ppl remembered us and our c is so lovely and welcomed us back with open arms ( I know she is there to earn money but she does seem to genuinely care and to be glad to have us back.) so have put on all of what I lost last year but 1.5 pounds but I am not surprised and is fully deserved. Have my club 10 as 2 stone so that will be m first target. Feel refreshed with the plan and raring to go :)

To finish my night off the vile (my teams local rivals) have lost to a league two club tonight in the first round of the semi final of the cup, it was bloody great! X

The sport thing went way over my head - honestly it is like seeing dates, my eyes swim and the words won't make sense anymore! But I think it was a good thing so yay!

So glad you have a lovely group and C. You're not alone. One of the ladies at my group is lovely, she has about 5 kids I think (if not more, I do lose track), anyway, she had her wedding about 4 years ago it must be, because she has had 2 more kids since then, and the elder one is 3yrs, and she lost NINE stone(!) for her wedding. And after having her final, and last, bambino she is back to lose it all again. So it can be done :) the difference in her this time is she is doing it for her, not for a day. We get a lot of people that rejoin every year - I only know this because my mum saw it for two years, so when I mention someone she tells me "give it a few months, she rejoins every year, then stops coming, she'll stop annoying you soon." That person was just vile, she'd make really gross sexual comments and hit on this bloke all the time. It wouldn't be so bad, but in half term some of the kids are 11yrs so know exactly what she is saying, even still there's always a 3 yr old and they pick up everything. (e.g. my niece's delightful song of "for ****s sake" sang to the tune of twinkle twinkle little star)

My club 10 was 2st1lb, I remember it feeling a life time away. You're going to hit it flying :)

CANNOT WAIT FOR TOMORROW!!!! If it is no good I am going to be a grumpy cow, just warning you. I couldn't even serial weigh tonight because I couldn't get to the scales. gah.

Aww sounds great, Jo! I know I wouldn't be anywhere near as good without group. I can stick to a diet on my own for about 3 weeks max and then it's all down the drain again! I like having the official WI on the SW scales.

No, Fran! Not a horrible pink thing! Disgusting stuff. Saveloys are 6.5 syns on their own. I'm guessing a jumbo sausage is 2 x normal thick sausage so 9 syns. 10 syns for batter (small cod in batter is 10 syns) so about 20 seems right. I'd rather overestimate than under! Not that I've eaten it yet... Just thinking about it for tomorrow...

Great that you're all back on board jo :)

Thanku x

It was a very good thing lol.

Oh dear she doesn't sound very pleasant and a little embarrassing! I am a bit of a yo yo'er but hopefully not this time :)

That's good to know fran the club 10 does seem an awful long way away thanks for the vote of confidence you are fab :) x

Good luck for tomorrow I predict a massive wonderful surprise for u x

Definitely need the accountability but also the wonderful support too just like on here :) x

ooh, someone having a post WI treat? have a look in the back of your book at the syns, i'm sure there's a chippy section, they might have it in there.

I like haddock. M&D are doing the shop this week (I bought last weeks) and they are going into the shops (mum's got a skin cancer on her hand that she's going to get sorted on Friday - yes we're the many diseases family, so they are going into the proper shops) so they'll get some fish. going to do fish and chips minus the batter. I think I might have fish and chips if I get my 5.5 stone for Easter/Nate's birthday at the end of March. Living at the seaside can be hard on a diet!

Jo, I think you'll be like the lovely lady with the millions of kids, her mum comes too. I just think, "if she can lose 9 stone, and then be happy to come back and do it again, this must be a good plan, else she'd not want to do SW again." We've the same starting BMI so we can do it!
