25 stone to 19 stone in 8 months.

Your BMR is 2215
I'm guessing your activity level is sedentary (with love, my mums is too :) ) so that means you need approx 2568 to function without doing anything.

So you haven't gone over love. 2000 would be a good target for you right now - it gives you an extra 300 to keep yourself going and have extra bits when you feel weak. Even 2200 on good days won't be too much for you.

You CAN do it and you are NOT a faliure. You are human :)

We are ALWAYS here for you

Haha I hate going to the dr!! I refuse unless I'm dropping dead!
All my drs are slim and blame everything on my weight. Thin people don't get ill then ?!?!?

We can do this. What you having for tea tonight? Xx

My last doctor (before I swapped - this is the straw that broke the camels back) blamed my hayfever on my weight.

Because clearly, larger people are more allergic to pollen :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Anything under your bmr means you'll lose so this is fab advice.

500 less cals a day over a week means a steady loss :) it gives you freedom to have more on days when you need more. Our bodies don't know days/weeks, if you have say 2000 a day for a week that's 14000 cals. Somedays you could have a good day with maybe 1300 but the next day you could have more.

That's how I'm doing it.
If I go over today then I can be better tomorrow or the next day x

Hi 366 another one here to tell you to eat more. I've been losing steadily on between 1900-2000 cals since January even though MFP tells me to eat around 1440/day for 2lbs a week loss sedentary or 1730/week lightly active for my current weight. When I reduced to the MFP count I actually stalled for a month until I upped my calories again to the 1900-2000. I use the custom goals to use a 40/30/30% ratio for carbs/protein/fat rather than the MFP defaults.

I've always understood from various sources that when we are very heavy our activity level should be set one level up due to the load our bodies are moving around. So although you're not doing much exercise right now you still need enough fuel to keep you going.

I'd recommend experimenting a little until you find a calorie allowance you lose consistently on and start with as many calories as you can so that you have plenty of room to drop them as you drop the weight.

Also try not to eat too large a portion of protein as too much can cause a sugar spike in the same way as a large portion of carbs can, this may be the cause of you dizzy spells/tiredness. It may suit you better to split your calories over 3 smaller meals and a couple of snacks to keep the blood sugar levels on an even keel.

I also take my calories over a week rather than eating the same each day just to keep my metabolism on its toes lol

Good luck on your journey, take it one day at a time and don't worry if you eat a few more/few less calories a day than MFP says.

Do you think perhaps you could be anaemic or have low blood sugar? This could explain the dizzy spells. I get like that around my period and I if I eat lots of iron rich foods I feel better.

How did you day end yesterday? And what are you meal plans for today? Xx

Thanks EVERYONE for the replies and for the friend requests on MFP.

I've only got a couple of mins as I am waiting for a cab to take me to ... THE SWIMMING POOL! Then on to the museum for some research, taking a packed breakfast with me.

I had 2200 calories yesterday and today I am UP 2lbs.
===========================================
News for today.

Am going to replace chocolates with chewable vitamin C, which fill your mouth with zingy sweetness. They will become my "sweet treat" for the day.

Am going to switch from eating wheat to eating vegetables and tubers. Must find a fat free way to make them palatable.

Am re-starting aqua fit today after not going since February, on the day that I paid £250 for a year's pool membership :-( What a stupid waste!

Am starting today to take vitamin supplements. I spent a fortune on them a year ago but just left them in the cupboard! How stupid is that?

Am determined to drink more water

That's it for now... taxi outside!

Brave lady going swimming! Check you out :) :)

Have a better today and all will be ok. Water water water is your friend. The weeks I drink more, the more I lose. It's fab for weightloss. Plus if you drank loads yesterday you may not have peed it all out yet so that could be your extra 2lb!
I've lost up to 4lb in a few hours because of water weight. I weigh at 6am then if I go back to bed and get up at say 11 (if I'm unwell or depressed) I have another wee or 2 and my weight is vastly less!

A good way to ensure you get all your water is to get a water container. I got one from eBay, it's called Aladdin Clarity, it is £12.99 but if I bought a bottle of water everytime I was out then I'd have spent that buy now.
2.5-3 of then a day and you've have your 2 litres! Plus you look super healthy waking around with it :)

Enjoy swimming!!! Imagine you a Ariel the mermaid and float around without a care in the world :) xx

Agree with water and extra weight, don't fret about the 2lbs, it's physically impossible that an extra 500 calories will make you gain 2lbs of fat, because 1lb of fat is equal to 3500 calories. It's just salt and water retention, bodies are funny like that! Sometimes my body gains and loses 2lbs just by moving a slight fraction of an inch, they do like to mess us around. Enjoy your swim, drink lots of water, eat well but don't let yourself starve, the 2lbs will be gone in no time!

Thanks for the replies gals!

Yes I am sure it was low blood sugar. I sometimes have "hypo" attacks. I used to have very severe reactive hypoglycaemia but it's not a huge problem these days unless I don't eat enough, or eat sugar without fats to slow down the absorption. Even today I would not drink, for example, a glass of Coke, even if I was not on a diet. I've had a terrific hypo from eating cherries on an empty stomach, too.

After eating 2200 calories yesterday I woke up feeling much more alive, and with enough energy to go and do 45 minutes of aqua-zumba, aka "water disco". I've paid my yearly pool membership for 12 years now. Sometimes, when I've started a new diet, I've aqua-danced as frequently as every other day. I gave up swimming up and down like a goldfish years ago, when I saw an aqua-fit class and thought "Wow, that looks like fun!" So I joined one class, learned the moves, and never attended another class. Instead I bought myself a pair of foam barbells via Amazon, £9.99 which are twice as big and therefore twice as hard as the ones the pool owns.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Speedo-..._sbs_sg_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1J5W0FA1N1599QFP54J1

I just made the aquafit-type moves for a few years. Then they invented the waterproof MP3 player! I bought a Speedo Aquabeat and it totally transformed my water-workout. I choose my own music, my favourites of course, and it motivates me, keeps me kicking and pumping even when it's hard going, and makes the whole exercise thing a fun experience. It's just like having your very own water-disco!

+aquabeat

This morning I tried not to go TOO crazy to "Blame it on the Boogie" (Michael Jackson tracks are all fab for aqua-fit). I didn't want to do too much too soon after being totally inactive for six months. I would normally do 60 or 90 minutes, but I kept it down to 45 today and will build back up. I expected to be hurting but back home now and no aches or pains. Not bad for 56 and 25 stone, eh?

I've never let my weight stop me from going to the pool. At my heaviest in 2010 I was 26 stone 9 and wore a dress size 34 costume. Other swimmers have sometimes told me that their mother/daughter/friend refuses to go swimming because they are "too fat". Enquiry reveals that these women are a size 16 or 18. I always say, tell them to come along with me and they can hide behind me.

In 12 years I've never had a single insult, been stared at (so far as I know) or had anything negative said to me on account of my weight.

Mind you I have dance music blasting in my ears most of the time so I would not be able to hear them, anyway LOLOL

And if people are thinking to themselves "Oooh, she's fat!" well so what? A second later they will be looking at someone else and thinking "Oooh, he's old!" or "Ooh, she's wrinkly" or "Oh look at those horrible tattoos". People will always look at others and disapprove of something about them, so why worry or even think about it? There's a young woman comes to our pool who's had her leg amputated up to the hip. If SHE can walk around poolside with her stump showing, head held high and not caring who stares (and they do ~ they cannot help themselves!) then us fatties can!

Anyway ... I am now back into the swing of things. The staff on reception all cried out when they saw me: "Where have YOU been?" and "Hello, stranger!" It's nice to know that you are missed. I'd left some stuff in a locker 6 months ago and taken the key home, and felt certain they would have broken into it and removed me stuff, but no! I opened it and all my stuff was there. It was like coming home!

I'm quite excited that I have 1,200 calories left for today (if keeping to 1700) and more if I want them. Wow.

Thanks Tranquility. I am pretty much blown away by your 60lb weight loss ~ and SO SO SO envious! I wanna be like you-hoo-hoo. I have never lost 60lb and so you are one of my role models now. Where do you live, my dear? Thank you for the advice. I will reset my ratios and try not to get too obsessed over details. Mind you, it could be that it's only the obsessive quest to be perfect that keeps me on track, who knows?

My Paul McKenna Gastric Band just arrived by post, so I need to sit in the garden and read the book and instructions.

Love to all my friends on here. Thanks for taking an interest, and for the advice and care :)

I'm so proud that you did 45 mins in the pool! I'm a size 14 and I haven't been swimming an about 3 years, I just wont go anywhere in public unless fully clothed! You have my full admiration, I wish I had your confidence! My Aunt is 23 stone and 5 years old, but she'll get up and go without a care in the world, and I'm standing there going "Nope, I'm far too fat for that!"

45 minutes of straight exercise is seriously impressive, well done! You've definitely earned those calories today!

lol my first thought was 60lbs?????? Yes I guess it is since I started. I lost some put a bit back on but kept plodding along, maintained around 24st for most of last year got myself back into it Jan this year and just set 1 stone at a time targets. I've always been a slow loser but eating like this seems to be more of a routine these days rather than "being on a diet" and the scales are moving downwards hoping to get into the 200s by the end of the month.

There was a lady on here who did really well with the Paul McKenna band but I don't think she's posted for a while.

I'm in the West Midlands.

Thanks LLama, but can't you take something from me and your auntie? Like, what the hell does it matter what other people think? They think all kinds of things about all kinds of different people, as I said.

45 minutes was a gentle return for me. From now on it will be a minimum of 60 and 75 if I feel like going on. And that is non-stop aerobic exercise, no standing at chatting like a lot of the length-swimmers tend to do in my pool. I'm going to aim for going every other day. The only problem is, it made me bloody hungry and I've had all my three meals now by 3pm!

That is brilliant news! This is what we need to achieve ~ routine healthy eating that will make us lose weight instead of all this weighing, measuring, counting and obsessing.

and the scales are moving downwards hoping to get into the 200s by the end of the month.

I really hope you make it! It's 12th today, so two weeks to lose about 2 to 3 lb sounds doable. Mind you, our bodies don't always play ball, even if we keep eating by the rule book.

The Amazon reviews from people who have actually done it are very favourable indeed. I read 75% of the book this afternoon and McKenna claims his success rate is 90%. That is pretty impressive.

I'm in the West Midlands.

Then I shall read your posts with that accent in mind!

I hope all goes well with your Paul McKenna gastric band, does he just hypnotise you to think you've got a gastric band? That must save people thousands of £££'s if it works!

I've decided to give the 4:3 diet a go because I'm struggling to eat my calories each day, being vegetarian and on a low fat diet means I've been eating loads of carbs and it's making me feel rubbish!

Hi Blue, Thank you. Yes he hypnotizes you via his DVD which comes with the book. It only cost me £8 including postage for a brand new copy.

He makes much of the finances in the book. As his HNG works on 9 out of 10 people, this could save the NHS millions of pounds. The NHS would have to deal only with the 10% for whom it did not work. The book came out last year. Whether anyone in the NHS is going to start liaising with him on this is yet to be seen. They could buy copies of the book/DVD at wholesale price (about a fiver each) and GPs could distribute them to everyone who comes in asking for WLS. Jeez the mind boggles at the money that could be saved in this way.

I haven't started the programme yet because McKenna requires "patients" to set a couple of things in motion before listening to the DVD and I am not yet able to get my head around doing them. If I am able to stick to this 1700 calorie diet, I will not NEED the HNG, so I am going to wait and see. Even if I don't use it, I am so glad I bought the book/DVD just to find out about this amazing system.

What makes me laugh is that all kinds of advisors on the net are offering weight loss pills, plans, supplements, regimes etc at huge prices, for systems that have no success rate at all, whilst McKenna is charging no more than for a cheap paperback for a system that is 90% effective. He makes about 50p per book/DVD sold. And that's taxed!

MFP changed my calorie allowance to 1900. I will change it back to 1700. Here are some selfies I took outside the swimming pool yesterday after my first aqua-zumba for 6 months.

Cheers Hershey, mate. I live in these kaftans! I have six of them. I even bought two purple ones the same, so I always have a spare. So easy to wear! So easy to wash and hang up and dry. So easy to pull on over a swimming costume and then fling off over your head in one swift move at the pool. No faffing with buttons, zips, etc. So easy to roll up half a dozen and pack them in a cabin sized suitcase. I actually went to Tunisia for two weeks with four kaftans, one swimsuit, two pairs of sandals, one bra and no other clothing!

And you know what? People actually stop me in the street and ask where I buy them. The answer is, Ebay. They come from Thailand, India and Indonesia.
