Awww bless youThere's only really me and mum (and the brother and sister in law may put in a visit) and the Best Friend who's in Leeds and I can't get to see her as much as I'd like to because of mum and she can't come over at the minute cos she's so poorly herself
I always make much more effort like you do
It's a bit weird but I don't like mine (not least because it'll start with a 3 now...
) because I don't really like getting presents and feeling beholden to other people (which is bloody stupid, I know!). I don't mean to sound ungrateful it's just I'd rather have nothing than things like the stupidly expensive moonpig.com hampers that my brother and SIL have sent for the past couple of years with wine (I'm not a drinker) and chocolates (too high in cals and I'm not really a big choc person!) and weird vomit smelling soap. Or the hotel chocolat hamper (again, not a chocolate fan - especially not dark chocolate) I hate feeling like they've wasted their money on me

I'm exactly the same as that. I tell people not to buy me pressies! It drives joe mad!! I say I'd much rather you take the day off and spend it with me that spend silly money on flowers or chocolates or like you said branded hampers etc.
But Joe has insisted on getting me something. His mum asked him what to get and I said nothing! But she said she'll put money in my bank and I said well that can go towards the new wooden blind for the living room then! That makes me happier than a £30 bunch of flowers that die in a week or that the cats eat! X
