3rd day.. struggling! =(

Only my third day and I'm struggling on what to eat for lunch at work every day! I had a mugshot yesterday but I was starving after and ended up scoffing load of syns last night in self sabotage mode! :( :(
I had a large salad with lots of ham for lunch today, is that ok?
 
The reason for my self sabotage btw is because I had fruit after my lunch and it had a coconut drizzle with it, I then found out it was 8 syns just for the drizzle! So was really angry with myself lol :(
 
A large ham salad is fine - the ham provides P food and the salad is the S food.

Have a look at some of the food diaries on here to get ideas for lunch. I wouldn't find a Mugshot sufficient for lunch so I'm not surprised you needed something else. Your fruit pot would have been fine as the drizzle was within Syns. OK, maybe not the best 'value' for Syns,, but you could still have had a 'treat' in the evening with the remaining Syns.

However, yesterday is done and you can start afresh today. If you can, learn from yesterday and remember to read the labels. Can you buy fruit in advance so that you can take it with you? Part of the secret with SW is planning ahead. You are still the early days of trying to absorb all the information, so don't be hard on yourself.
 
Thanks, I know I really beat myself up about the fruit thing! Fresh day today, just need to not stress and take it all in my stride :) Thank you, definitely going to plan ahead more!
 
Do you have a microwave at work? I tend to bake a big batch of jacket spuds at the weekend and take them to work and whizz them in the microwave and top with some yummy low fat cottage cheese and a big side salad. I also keep in some fat free natural yoghurt and fruit for my afternoon sweet, or a hi fi bar.

The trick is to always have something you can eat ready for when you start to get peckish.
 
You do have to be careful with coconut. It turns up in a lot of things these days, and it is high in syns. Also, I hate it, so I have to keep a firm eye on the ingredients lists!!
 
Thanks guys. I'm struggling that everything has to be done from scratch as I'm not a cook at all and my bf does all the cooking and I feel bad! Wondering if it will fit my lifestyle but WW didn't work for me as I was living off ready meals which was urgh and I was hungry! need to stop making excuses I think and suck it up !
 
The beauty of sw is that you don't need to be able to cook to benefit. It can be something as simple as adding passata mushrooms , onions and cooked chicken breast to cooked pasta and hey presto a syn free chicken pasta bake!

Its simple good food.

That's true :) I think I need to just get organised! I'm waiting for my extra easy recipe books to arrive, I think that will help :)

I like simple meals as I don't have time to be in the kitchen, this week I've had lamb, carrots & potatoes done in the slow cooker, baked bean burgers, quorn sausages SW chips & mushy peas!! All yummy, all simple to make :D
 
Hiya, I cook extra if I'm having rice or pasta for dinner in the week, then for work lunches I make a rice or pasta salad with loads of superfree; tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, grated carrot, salad leaves etc, some chicken or ham and a dollop of LTL Mayo. All layered in a tub, then all I need is a fork :)
 
I always find it easiest to stick to plan when I am organised. Make your lunch up the night before so you aren't stressing out about it in the morning. Don't know if you like balsamic vinegar but a splash of that can make all the difference to a salad (just make sure it isn't a glaze or a dressing cos that'll mean syns), beetroot is also a good one in salad - really brightens the whole thing up! I find the more colourful it is the more I enjoy eating it! I also recommend making a big pot of soup and sticking it in the fridge so that if you get peckish you can just throw some in the microwave. Just throw an onion, some carrots and a few peeled and cut up potatoes into a pot with some vegetable stock and viola - jobs a good'un :)
 
Always good if you have a microwave at work so you can make extra dinner the night before and just heat it up. Good luck and welcome.

Some days im at university and other days im in a work placement. So if my day involves being out of the house for meals i always make a packed lunch the night before. Im at uni tomorrow, so while i made my salmon salad with egg today i made an extra one and put in the fridge. Always have your breakfast so that your not starving, plus take fruit with you to snack on if you are hungry.
 
I've got the same issue - I make a large list of things I can cook for the week ahead then when I go food shopping I buy certain things for certain meals and then the night before I'll cook my tea but make extra to go in the lunchbox for work the next day - I love pasta - I don't do EE days as I don't eat a lot of veggies or meat so most of my days are green - lots of rice/pasta and potatoes hehe!!

Its making bulky things I find keep me full for longer xx

Peasy peasy to make you need,
1lb mashed potaotes
1 tin baked beans mashed
1 chopped onion cooked
seasoning, I used chilli, garlic & curry powder, OH had just salt & pepper

mix everything together, make into patties (I have one of those rings to make a nice shape :rolleyes:)
spray an oven tin with frylight & bake burgers in oven for about 30 mins

i had mine with carrots but not too sure that goes well really!!!
