4 PINTS OF WATER?!! Struggling to drink!

Just wondering if anyone else struggles with drinking 4 pints of water??!
I just find it difficult, the last time i did the CD i was up all night needing to pee...spoke to my cdc who suggested i drink it before 7pm, but I was still peeing all night!
I'm not much of a drinker anyway... A really really silly question, but what does that amount of water have to do with this diet?? :eek:
Do you think i could maybe drink it all in one go, on a morning maybe?? Or should it be spread out through the day??

Best to spread it out through the day. There was a case of where a woman had died on a vlcd because she drank too much water in such a short space of time. I tend to fill up two 1 litre bottles (with the mouthpiece thing attached), then sip them through the day. I also have sparkling water as a change.

OMG!!!!!!!!!! Really??!! Now that is scary!! That's a good idea actually, i'll fill the bottles up as of 2mrw. I know this is personal lol but do you need to pee all night??

I am so terrible at drinking the water. I've probably drunk under a litre a day since I 'restarted' after Xmas (the word restarted being used very loosely here!!)

The only thing that puts me off is that I have to pee literally every 15 minutes so I avoid drinking it at work and then I just totally forget about it!

Can you still loose the weight if you don't drink the water??

it does get easier to 'hold' the water as u get used to it so u dont pee as often, its about retraining the bladder to recognise the need to pee sensation when its fuller, if that makes sense. drinking too much in a short space of time is def not good, it can kill. u may find the story of the woman who drank a silly amount of water in one go and died, sad but true. . . .google it. water helps keep things going smoothy, and as u would usually get alot of water from your food, your not eating food so u need to get the water by drinking it to keep u hydrated and obviously its good for the kidneys as stops any build of of toxins that your body produces and naturally expels. space the water through out the day is best all round :) HTH x

I have only had 3 pints today but will take a pint up to bed and challenge to drink it everytime i wake to pee,lol.

Also, apparently the ketones the body produces in ketosis, can be recognised by the body as toxic. Constant water keeps flushing them out of your body.

If you have a build up of ketones, your body thinks its under attack, so holds onto as much energy and water as possible - hence slowens the weightloss.

it will soon hun. ul never be able to hold pints of water but it will get better. i used to be terrible!!! as soon as i drank i had to go, but now i last a while :) glad to have helped hun x

Omg know how you feel! I'm buying bottles of it coz our tap water is rank! I can manage 2 litres at a push but think I'm gonna have to start as soon as I get up to cram
Anymore in, I can tell I'm dehydrated but just can't drink much before lunch and I think that's because of how my my eating was pre cd, going to try so so hard today though!

you really must drink the 4 pints a day. when you eat the food that you eat contains water. when we drink the shakes we are taking in less water than you would if you were eating. try adding more water to your shakes and having a small glass before each shake. also remember to count any tea and coffee in with the water intake.

Thank you great things. I have decided to fill up bottles on a morning and drink a pint an hour in the day so by evening i'm not rushing to the bathroom..even worse waking up and not being able to sleep again.
My CDC explained the whole reason to drink the water and if i don't drink i don't loose.
Lancsgirl...it's awful isn't it..how's your diet going..what are you on now? Day??

Hi Hun I've woken today and it's day 10 for me! Lol never thought I'd make it past day 5! I only managed about a litre yesterday, awful! Not drinking enough water! CDC wants me to be at 4 litres a day by nxt week!

You do not need 4 litres. 2.25l (4pts) is fine. I find more than this in just pure water (not inc coffee and tea etc) and I retain water. I always have a pint before my shakes and add more water to my shakes too.
