6 stone to lose but worried about excess skin?

I have had 3 c sections. I was told that as all your muscles were cut, then you really have to exercise the muscles around the area. So vary your sit up exercises. Try to concentrate on exercises that focus on that area. It might be worth spending a bit of money and getting a personal trainer, just for a little while. Maybe once a month for a few months.

Whether the NHS would help isn't that clear as it would depend on the PCT involved. I recently read in the paper (which I can't remember!) that someone could have had a gastric band but didn't and lost a lot of weight through healthy eating and exercise, were left with excess skin and when they asked about having it removed on the NHS were told no as they hadn't had a gastric band.

I have the same concerns about excess skin however a 'maybe' isn't going to stop me losing weight. I'll worry about excess skin if it occurs but I'd rather weigh less and improve my health overall than stay as I am all because of the possibility of excess skin.

Thanks again to all contirbuters with personal experience, really helpful! :) anyone recommend an afforable and effective firming moisturiser?

Ha, I know this thread is over 18 months old but reviving it had made me moisturise with gusto. I feel permanently sticky :-s

palmers make a cocoa butter firming one that's popular and was recommended for me during pregnancy too but I couldn't get on with the smell so I'm back on body shop body butters.

image.jpgI googled the best firming body lotions and the best ones under £25 are:

Dove pro age
palmers cocoa butter
jergens firming something or the other
nivea with Q10

they all normally come in around the £6/7 mark. The palmers is £4.85 at boots and both the dove and the Nivea are 1/3 off at the moment so are around 4something too. Worth cashing in some boots points methinks :)

Thanks very much :)

 I didn't even notice this was an old thread... oops!

Will be looking into the moisturiser suggestions though

I have started a testing thread on "off topic" for the creams if anyone is interested??

I wonder if PMI would cover the removal of excess skin - so if someone was loosing weight and started notiching they had it, they could set up PMI (or already have it) and then after 12 months or when ever they have lost the weight get the op on the PMI - I am not sure if PMI covers cosmetic though! Just thinking out loud there sorry!

I used the palmers in pregnancy and after for a few months and I have only 3 stretch marks left on my body, I got pretty big towards the end so I think it must of done a good job - I should probably by some more!

I'm another one who worries about excess skin(I have about 6 stone to lose) but I reckon that being slim and healthy is my first aim so I'll stock up on moisturiser, get exercising and deal with the excess at a later date.

I've got 9 stone to lose :(.. But I'm hoping because I'm only 21 and with abit of exercise I should be okay.. I hope :s
