Abi's weightloss diary - post jaw surgery

Or try the WW vegetable casserole - if you need the recipe let me know & I'll post it for you

i love making veg soup with potatoes and leeks, carrots, onions etc. i may whiz up a batch :)

well the boiler man is coming back tomorrow basically. the boiler is going at the moment, and he's replacing the pump in the morning.

this does, of course, mean that thomas has been told not to go into work. typical!! but i am.

not sure about the bridesmaid dresses. they are lovely but they have a slight blue sheen to them when they glisten in the light that i'm not sure on. but there are a couple of others too. so basically, in around another month when my bridesmaid who has just finished chemo (hopefully for good, she finds out in another week or so if she's got the all clear) comes to visit, we'll go and try them all on and see which ones she feels most comfortable in. i think the red is close enough and there are a couple of other options which are fairly close to the red too. and because my dress doesn't have masses of red in it, and the chaps aren't wearing red waistcoats, i don't think it really matters if the reds aren't exact. if i had been getting the original dress which has far more red then i would be more worried about it. but it's a very flattering cut. i had to try one on in blue as they didn't have a red one above a 12 and my preggers bridesmaid tried on the red one so we could see it without zipping up the back and from the front you couldn't tell she had a bump, ha. it would need taking up a wee bit for her though. so yes. all in all a rather successful day.

i had a jacket potato with tuna, avoided the subway cookie she ate and then disuaded her from buying strawberries dunked in chocolate for us to share :)

Well done Abz. I could have avoided the subway cookie but the strawberries dipped in chocolate - I reckon I might have caved x

well we went swimming. did 30 lengths. 10 straight off and fastish, then 10 slow and chatting as i wanted to do breaststroke to work the muscles in my back (and man am i paying for that today) and then 10 fastish again. since last week doing 8 in a row nearly killed me i reckon that's an improvement.

have had bad news re mortgage. the mortgage is somehow higher than when we borrowed it despite paying £7500pa and having a repayment mortgage. and the mortgage woman told me yesterday that it was 90k and i was amazed but rather happy. then she told me she was wrong... it's 106. so i'm gutted. and the projected value of our house is 103. it was 130 two years ago. so again. totally gutted. looks like we're going to be staying where we are for quite some time. and there's no way that the places we want to move to will be within our price bracket when the market finally raises it's head, hopefully in a couple of years... so i'm gutted. i don't know what to do really. of course that's the projected value without them having seen the improvements made to the house. so it may be worth getting it valued in any case, but meh. i'm not sure i can be bothered with all the hassle. i may just want to concentrate on getting our house lovely. we'll see :(

and for some reason thomas only got paid £150 this week... it should be next week that the sh*t hits with him not getting paid this week, so i really want to know why he's only been given just over half his pay!! we're really in the soup!!

Things looking a bit grim Abz - sorry to hear that. Keep your chin up and grit your teeth. All them years ago (gets far away look, leans on zimmer frame and tries to remember) OH had to go on permanent nights and get a Saturday job to make ends meet AND EVEN THEN we didn't have enough to go round. As long as you keep the roof over your head and have a way of getting to work you'll survive -honestly! I can remember buying a cheap chicken, roasting it for Sunday, having chicken salad for Monday, using the crappy bits in a curry for Tuesday and boiling up the bones to make a stew for Wednesday. Sometimes we managed to stretch the curry to cover Thursday as well. Them waz ard times - I remember it well!!!!

ha. i know in the scheme of things we're doing ok gem. there are people out there much worse off than we are. but i've done this bit already. i'm sick of having a crap wage, paying an extortionate mortgage and living on beans!! life sucks at the moment. a wee bit. and to pay the bills this month it looks like we may have to raid the wedding account which isn't looking as huge as it should in any case. and that's a slippery slope to clamber onto :(

It's a hard time to be having wedding expenses isn't it Abz? x

you said it... but i've paid for a lot of things now so there's no turning back on that one.

and OH got sent home because a bloody great hunk of something fell off the truck onto his feet. now his feet were really sore and wounded and scabby but he 'forgot' to tell me that he'd been sent home that day and he doesn't get paid sick pay? i'm going to kill him when i get home.

If something fell off the truck it's an industrial accident and he SHOULD be paid - I'd challenge that one x

well apparently he gets 'bad weather pay'. they get an allowance of five days every three months, and that has been used up this past week. and they get paid £20 a day.. forgive me for not leaping around with joy.

i have no idea how to challenge it gem. i don't even know the circumstances on how it happened. and it turns out it happened before they even left the yard.

i just don't know what to do now. the world has gone to sh*t in a very short space of time...

OH has to ring work at 4 to see if they need him on monday. since the forecast is sunshine all weekend i'll go mad if they say they don't need him.

Surely something falling on his foot is their fault? these small firms seem to get away with allsorts of rubbish, it'sa shame people are so desperate for jobs or we could tell them to stick it!
Is there any way of cutting wedding costs without not cutting on quality?

everything that could be cut has been cut. we could change what food we want. i was going to get a sit down dinner, but i suppose we could look at a buffet, but the cheap buffet options really do look naff...

thanks guys. i want to be at home, under a duvet with lots of chocolate. instead i'm at work, coding, with tic tacs so i have something to shove in my gob in a moment of weakness...

Hey hun sorry to hear you've having a bad time at the moment. I'm in a similar boat as OH has been out of work for 3 weeks now and he usually earns twice as much as I earn so we're really struggling now too.

Things will get better (I keep telling myself that), so keep your chin up and look after yourself. x x

well the pump has now been replaced on the boiler. fingers crossed that that is it. as sod's law would have it the bloody thing started this morning!! ah well. at least now it should go...

my programming is driving me absolutely insane. i'm looping and looping and looping and have ended up with the same things being printed hundreds of times instead of the things i've specified. aaargh. still. i'm at the point of hysterically laughing at it now.

two hours of work to go. can't wait. am actually off this weekend too so just want to collapse.

car is being MOTd in the morning. i really hope it just passes. we can't afford to fix anything that's wrong...
