Activity Points help please :)

Hey All,
As i don't go to meetings I don't know much about activity points..and would appreciate any info/advice people could give me on them!I would like to try and up my exercise levels (currently work out twice a week at gym, for 30 mins, cardio), and wonder whether i should count any activity points earned from this. I don't count any AP for the workouts i do at the mo as it doesn't seem enough. I see some people count walking etc for AP, but don't WW expect you to walk a certain amount each day anyway? if so, is there any guidelines? I do quite a bit of walking on a day to day basis but never count that. I think i'm gona try and do some more workouts at the gym and maybe just add up the AP from that and see if it makes any difference to my weight loss? Do most people eat or not eat AP? Any formula to work out how many points you get from exercise in terms of calories burned?Any advice appreciated :) XX

if you do exercise on a daily basis your body will already be used to it, so you can only count what you do on top of the norm. A lot of people don't use their weeklies, but I like to use a couple.

There isn't a formula persay (well its not readily available).. you would really need to get the starter pack to work out how many points you would get, as its based on intensity, time, and the weight of the person in question.

Hi Anna, its totally up to yourself if you want to use the AP or not, I haven't been using mine and like hanataa said its only on top of any physical activity you do normally. One thing I am going to disagree with hanata on is the availability of the formula to work it out. WW dont want you to know because they would like your money but its on the internet if you look for it, i found it on eHow.

Thanks Hannata, i thought as much, knew there had to be some kind of book of something.... I think maybe i will try and go to the gym once or twice more a week and maybe do some swimming and just see if my losses speed up. I suppose if i am managing to keep within my dailies and weeklies at the moment there is no point eating AP for the sake of it. I would like to feel healthier/look more toned anyway so any extra losses would just be a bonus!x

Sillykitten...haha i have managed not to give them any of my money yet apart from the starter kit :p i will check out ehow. i think it is fair enough that they prefer you to go to the meetings to find things like that out but i personally don't feel the meetings would make any difference to my losses so don't want to shell out for them, i know they are great for some people, but not for me x

Have you thought about doing online only? Its only £6.95 a month and you get all the resources for checking points etc without going to meetings. :)

I'm in the same boat, I would love to join ww online but its not available in Ireland so I say poo to that! Not doing meetings because I have a social anxiety so the wonderful minimins and google help a lot.

the only one I can find is: How to Figure Out Weight Watchers Activity Points | eHow.com ? which is completely out... I just did a test, its giving me 9 points for something esource is saying gets 13. As it doesn't say propoints anywhere, its probably for the old discover scheme.

For anyone using the "how to calculate Propoints Allowance" from ehow, that's also wrong. There are so many calculators online and the majority are wrong. You can only really trust esource or ww products to give you the correct information.

Its not like it costs much to go to a class, get the starter pack and a calculator, then do it yourself. Infact you can find vouchers to go to a class for free, so all you are paying is for the calculator to give you your daily allowance.

thanks for all your replies..i was thinking about signing up online but wasn't sure if it was worth it..will def look in to it. Hannata, when you mention the calculator, do you mean a different one to the one you get to work out pp of foods?sorry if thats a stupid question!x

It's the same calculator- wonderful little thing it is :D

OOhhh well then i have that calculator! i will have a look and see if i can work out how to do AP on it, fab! i do own that one, couldn't manage without it!x

I don't think you can work out AP on it anymore. I say anymore because I know the older calculators from older programmes allowed you to. I miss this :(

I didn't understand why they took working out AP off the calculator?
I used to love my old black database calculator with the water button and the food database and working out AP :(
