Another reason to have your Healthy Extra A

    It HELPS you lose weight. I know its probably a silently held wee secret belief that if we eat less we'll lose weight. By less I mean if we skip out Healthy Extras every now and then, or miss our syns but..

    I buy Mens Health for my husband (well really its so I can have a swatch at the men in it but he thinks its for him so..) and there was an article in it about mens weight loss and hot to beat the fat "hormone"

    The fat hormone is called Gherlin, and when I was on CD, one of the mods there KD was a fantastic source of information about gherlin and leptin, so if you want to do further reading after this pop over to the forum and search for gherlin and leptin.

    Now Gherlin is a fat hormone, it stimulates growth and hunger. AND (heres the good bit) is markedly higher in people who have lost weight, which is why so many people struggle to maintain thier weight.

    However, Mens Health was saying one of the biggest ways to combat Gherlin is calcium. So to get your Gherlin beat, drink your HEA.

    Also Gherlin is released in response to stress, so try and keep relaxed folks :)

    Thanks for that. I always try to have my Hexa each day, being close to a particular age I worry about not having enough calcium.

    This is the reason why SW introduced a 2nd HE A to the plan a few years ago.....it only used to be 1 option per day but studies showed that calcium could help with weight loss and so they upped the choice to two per day!
    I always have two per day.

    As for calcium helping osteoporosis etc, I read somewhere that it is the calcium you consume in your early years, ie up to your early 20's that helps towards preventing such diseases.
