Anyone with underactive thyroid

#2
Hi PD
I had Thyroidectomy 6 years ago and am on Thyroxine and Liothyronine as replacement.
I put on 4 stone since the op and knowing what I know now about Hypothyroidism I would never ever let them take my thyroid out again if I had my time over. :(
I know where you're coming from - you'll be wondering if its worth trying 'cos nowt else works...surely slowing your metabolism down even further might be bad?....what about when you start eating 'normal' food again - surely weight will pile on?
Make sure you're on sufficient Thyroxine and your bloods are sorted and discuss with your GP first.
I started Cambridge SS+ coming up for 4 weeks ago.
I lost 13lbs in first week and hit 20lb yesterday :D
As far as I'm concerned I'm not going through this hard work and expense to put it back on - so once its off it'll be maintaining with low GI and exercise ;)

I am hypo too. I lost 3 stone in 2 months, although I then put on one stone, which I am going to lose now, but think they might need to up my dosage a bit.

Hi I am hypo too. I got it when i was 16 and I am 29 now. I have put on 2 stone in about 10 months. To be honest I cant really blame it on thyroid as I fell in love and moved in with my now finance. I ate more and drank far too much yummy wine and was not very active. I am on day 7 and am losing weight so thats all good!

I was hyperthyroid a couple of years ago but atypical which meant I put weight on, anyway I had radioactive treatment and am now hypothyroid! I am on 100mcg of levothyroxine and I have lost a stone in 3 weeks, I also have the implant. I think you will be fine as long as you keep monitoring the blood levels xxx

Im hypo and when I did CWP previously, I lost 5.5 stones in 5 months. Granted, Ive gained it again, although I think a big part of that is falling in love and moving in with my OH, and also, I idnt go up the steps and follow maintenance.
