breakfast confusion

    Hello

    i am a newbie and have signed up online. It has benefits, but I don't have a consultant to ask questions! I hope you don't mind me asking for advice

    I am vegetarian and following the green plan. For breakfast I had skimmed milk (hex a), wetabix (hex b) and a banana. I am wondering if this is ok as the meal was not 1/3 super free.

    Hi, I haven't been to class in a while and am starting back next week, but as far as I can remember banana is superfree so you have your 1/3 covered :)

    Just have more fruit, some berries, grapes or a grapefruit on the side would help

    There is a note in the book somewhere (I think, not absolutely certain) that says if you are having your hexes, you don't need to worry about the 1/3 superfree for that meal as there is automatically a control in the meal in the form of the fibre/fat which will make you full.

    Also, looking at the little food diary sheets we get from groups for recording meals, the 1/3 superfree and 2/3 free are written in columns of their own and hexes are in a third column as a separate element.

    Personally the way I personally interpret this is that anything in the meal that is NOT a hex or a syn has to be 1/3 superfree. So if I have a sandwich, the bread (hexb) doesn't count but 1/3 of the filling/sides must be superfree. If I have a pasta bake with cheese, the cheese doesn't count but everything else needs to be 2/3 pasta and 1/3 veg.

    Thank you. It's so hard to get your head around eating so much and still loosing weight. No complaints though ;)

    I agree with Gwella and I think your whole banana would probably suffice and they have lots of health benefits in them as well. I often have a banana with weetabix or shredded wheat or other cereal allowance as I find it really helps to keep me full for longer. Keep up the good work.

    To put your mind at res even more, the book had a pic of weetabix, milk and a banana for one of the breakfast ideas so it must be alright :)

    I really wouldn't worry about it when your using your hex especially with weetabix the idea of a 1/3 SF is so that you don't over fill your plate with free food, with 2 weetabix you can't exactly do that can you so it's already portion controlled. But well done with the banana anyway

    If there's a healthy extra included, which you have two, then the superfree rule can be left out as the healthy extras are already measured and controlled. But if you really want to add superfree, the banana is enough
