Bumps and Blimps (RawrGirl's Diary)

Flabuless Mama

Postpartum Mama trying to conceive
Most unexpectedly, RawrGirl finds herself pregnant. It is her second child -- her first child just graduated high school this past June. RawrGirl recently moved to the mountains and was enjoying hiking, biking, etc. and was most looking forward to horseback riding and mountain climbing next summer. Alas...that will not be happening as RawrGirl will be in her third trimester.

As it is, RawrGirl had gained weight since her awesome Minimins loss back in 2012, and now she is pregnant to boot. Last time RawrGirl "ate for two" she ended up at 200 pounds. She really hopes to not repeat that, but she's already 30 pounds heavier than last time, so that's looking more and more realistic. However, RawrGirl did read that if a person is overweight while pregnant, and eating healthy, it's not uncommon to actually slim down in the face and/or thighs even while gaining weight and inches in the tummy. So....after holiday next weekend (visiting family and telling them in person), RawrGirl is going to cut out junk food and start exercising, and hope she doesn't turn into a super-sized pregnant blimp with a bump over the next 7 months.

Anyone else pregnant?

Well, so much for RawrGirl keeping up a diary here to ensure she doesn't gain too much weight.

November -- 160 pounds (5 lbs)

December -- 170 pounds (10 lbs) -- RawrGirl kept telling doctor she was gaining too much weight (of course, Christmas holidays didn't help!). Doctor kept saying it was just water weight. Though...the extreme fatigue RawrGirl also suffered led to testing and she was put on thyroid medicine.

January -- 180 pounds (10 lbs)

February -- 190 (10 lbs) Still suffering from fatigue, RawrGirl was put on Vit A supplement. Having gained more than the total weight she should her entire pregnancy in the first trimester alone, RawrGirl attempted to curb further weight gain by cutting down on sweets...

March -- 190 (0 lbs)

April -- 195 (5 lbs -- mostly gained in 1 weekend when in-laws visited)

May -- 195 (0 lbs)

June -- 200 (5 lbs -- mostly gained in 1 weekend when in-laws visited)

RawrGirl has now gained 45 pounds since getting pregnant. Since she was overweight to begin with, she only needed to have gained 25 pounds. Now, with only 6-7 weeks left, ultrasound has revealed that baby is quite big and RawrGirl is at risk for a Cesarean. Baby is 95 percentile in weight and 99th percentile in tummy circumference. So RawrGirl is now going to eliminate sugars and cut down on all carbs (no white, just multi-grain/whole wheat, veggies, and fruit) except for the occasional (and SMALL) weekend treat.

The Dr has scheduled another ultrasound in 5 weeks to check on baby's weight...he's more than a pound overweight already. So hopefully, for the rest of this pregnancy, RawrGirl will still to this regimented diet, baby will get closer to the 50th percentile, and no C-section will be scheduled.

Any support or words of encouragement from moms who've been there greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Baby is finally here. He is almost 2 weeks old.

So, RawrGirl is going to start yet another weightloss journal/diary here. Weight as of 2 days ago was 13.4 stone. That's the highest non-pregnant weight RawrGirl has ever been at. Much sadness. Want to be at goal NOW. *sigh*

Diet should be starting Monday. Exercise, other than walking, is not supposed to start until 6 weeks. So, hoping to start walking soon. Next week is last week of maternity leave...so diet/walking will officially start up after that -- August 22.

Congrats on your new bundle. I'm expecting in March and now face a similar dilemma as you. I seriously gain weight when pregnant, but 1st trimester is almost over and so far I have gained nothing, but suddenly eating healthily has become much more difficult!
