cambridge diet to slimming world

I've been doing the cambridge diet for almost 2 weeks now and i'm really struggling with it. I'm tempted to return to slimming world - but dont want to risk a gain in my first week - going from such a low cal diet to slimming world. Anyone swapped plans before? - what happened?

Havent ever done VLCD, but there is the poosibility of a gain as you go on to proper meals, but its likely to be water retention and not fat. maybe if you do decide to swap don't weigh after the first week, give it 2 weeks to allow your body to settle in more, that way you wont be despondant if you have a small gain in the transition week?

If you gain then it's only likely to be water, not fat.

In december I switched from a vlcd to sw and didn't gain for the next few weeks, in fact the only gain I had was between christmas and new year, and that would've happed whatever diet i'd been on!!

Excellent point- I didn't weigh myself for the first week, as I know I would've been disappointed with a gain, even though I know it wouldn't be lard!!

my friend went from a VLC diet to WW last year, she put on 2lbs week one but then lost 1.5 week two and then kept loosing, she was worried at first but I was talking to her the other day and she is nearly at her target and said she is so happy she switched as her body is used to food and she feels she is more in control and ready to keep the weight off , remember its the long term so dont worry about the first week. I have never done a VLCD but i dont think I could, SW is the first proper diet I have tried and 98% of the time I dont even think I am on a diet.

Good luck with whatever you decide

I went from a vlcd to SW and didn't gain. I stuck to red and introduced anything carby more slowly.

I keep thinking I need to go back to the shakes to give my weight loss s kick up the bum but I can't bear the idea of it.

Good luck xx

I too went from Cambridge to SW, I left it 2 weeks between and ate healthily and had a loss in my first proper SW week. How on earth did we do CD?? I must admit I lost 5 stone quite easily, then had family probs and put 3 back on. Then each time I tried after that I lasted about a week at a time. Loving SW!!!!!!!!!!! Can eat and socialise again!!! Good luck with SW, I'm sure you won't regret it x

snap! Week one for me from CD to SW. HAve been on CD since November 2010. Did ok on it but started to have skin problems so decided to go healthy. Just made a fab salad and have eatten loads today as per the plan.
Weight loss? We'll see on Thursday
Let me know how you do
S xoxo

Thank you everyone for your replies.
I gave up on CD after only losing 2lb this week - really not worth it - i know I can lose that each week on slimming world. So here I go again - i shall do slimming world at home this week and rejoin class next week.

Good luck Serendipity - let me know how you get on...

Ro1s1n - CD is a very low calorie diet (about 400 per DAY) it consists of just 3 'shakes' or soups a day if you are doing the strictest version. I managed it for 2 weeks, (lost 14lb and 2lb), but to be honest, it was absolute hell. I was so moody and light headed I just couldnt continue with it. I take my hat off to anyone who can continue with CD for any length of time.

Its a relief to be back on slimming world. Not going to weigh till I go to class next week, just in case I have a bit of water retention.

I felt the same when I was on it!! I was angry, moody and snappy and that is the absolute opposite of me normally, I'm so easy-going! I'm usually so laid back i'm horizontal! I also found myself in tears in the kitchen several times - so I completely agree, those who stick to it need medals!

my medal is put far away back in my cupboard now lol, lost 5 stone in 7 months but it is such a lonely unsociable diet, and I remember fainting at least twice and having heart palpitations a lot. Won't diss it at all as it is fab if you need to lose weight fast, but I do enjoy being able to eat and live my life and still lose weight, albeit a lot slower. x
