canned fruit

I have always assumed that it is because in its raw state it is so much better for you and contains much more fibre and nutrients (a lot of which is lost in the canning process). I guess their thinking is that you can have it as free if it is doing you good, but canned is emptier calories.

I don't know if someone once told me this or I have completely made it up, though! LOL. Sounds good though, eh?

Apparently, it's to protect your calorie intake as canned and stewed fruit is too 'easy' to eat and you will eat more of it than if you were eating the raw fruit which takes more effort - think about apples. You could probably eat 3 or 4 apples worth of stewed apples as it slips down and is yummy but you would be unlikely to sit and eat 4 raw apples in a row.
