CD alternative

    Would taking a VLCD; for example the following:

    B - Branflakes with water
    L - Apple & yogurt
    D - Under 200 cal meal

    have the same weight losses as the cambridge diet?

    You would be lacking in essential nutrients and there would be too many carbs in the daily food items to get you into ketosis. It might be useful to have a look at the Atkins first stage as, although it's not a VLCD, it gets you into ketosis and gives some good losses.

    it could work in the short term especially if you don't feel much hunger ketosis or no ketosis ..actually i tend not to believe that ketosis is the holly grail of VLCDs, however you'd have to very careful with portion control..which begs the question what the point would be of not doing a portion controlled VLCD straight off...the minerals and vitamins in the short term you could take care of by taking supplements but in the end..seems like more trouble than its worth.
