Not sure where this is supposed to go. I want to try and do those scotch eggs with the chicken mince, but i can't find chicken mince anywhere. I've looked at tesco, sainsburys and asda does anyone have an idea where i can get some. I know i can go to butcher and will do if i have to but trying to find something a bit cheaper.

Can you not put some checken breasts in a belnder??

Not seen the recipe so may not be possible but I wouldn't see why noy :)

i hadn't thought of that. that's a good idea. thanks

as i haven't tried making it yet, i wouldn't know the difference, i could try it with turkey mince. Has anyone actually made them?

never heard of chicken mince being used for scotch eggs before?? theyre usually made with sausagemeat/haslet? seasoned pork mince should work ok xx

Put chicken meat in a food processor- it is just the same thing! Be VERY careful of buying turkey mince as the normal sort includes meat, skin and fat that has been minced and is quite fatty. Unless you can find a 'healthy options' kind, just make your own out of meat trimmed of all fat and at least you know it is free

If there is a Halal butcher near you, they will mince it for you when you buy the chicken from them.

it's a sw recipe i'm assuming it's cause chicken has less fat than pork.

Thank you everyone i'll give them a try and let you know how they turn out.

I have bought chicken mince from both asda and tesco in the past.
My butcher doesn't mince chicken unless you buy lots because it means dismantling and cleaning the mincer for a few breasts and it's not worth it for him, time wise (which is fair enough!)

Butchers (and other independant specialists ) are NOT always the more expensive option. It's worth checking, rather than just assuming x
