Tesco "lean" stewed steak which is free has 155cals per 100g and 7.5g of fat and 3.4g sat fat, yet the tesco value version has 135cal per 100g, 6g fat and 2.5g sat fat, is it free also?! I can't find the syn values for it anywhere and it's £1 or so cheaper! For a "value" product it's really tasty!

All lean meat is free if all visible fat is removed. Its mince that you need to watch for lean versions of etc etc because the fat is obviously minced in so you can't remove it yourself. You could buy the fattiest cut of, say pork and if you only ate the meat and removed ALL fat it would be free. Chops would be a good example.

Lean doesn't mean it has to be labelled as such simply that you make it that way.

Hope that helps.
