that we are not allowed to have more than 2 litres of liquids??

from chat:
why should we only drink 1.5 lt of water, in all other diets it is encouraged to drink lots of water, specially in a high protein diet...
sonja : Hi again Violeta! Actually it's from 1.5 litres of fluids (in case of water retention) to 2 litres per day no more no less. This is the correct amount for your kidneys to work enough to eliminate, but not too much. Have a nice evening!

I drink way more than 2 litres...

Oh that is interesting. I vaguely recall the book saying you shouldn't drink too much, but didn't realise they considered more than 2 litres too much!

It's 29°C at the moment here daytimes, and 20°C at night - I must be at 4L (minimum)

I think their being a bit over the top setting an upper limit at 2 litres!

Water intoxication is real (and does kill about 10 people a year, mostly runners) but it seems to happen when people drink 6 - 8 litres in a few hours.

The actor Anthony Andrews almost died of water intoxication a few years ago - he was in a coma for days.

I've actually switched to decaf tea as was feeling guilty about not getting enough plain water... don't feel so bad now :)
