do you have a meal/treat off plan weekly?

Just wondering what everyone else does really?
When i have dieted before i always had a treat one day a week. Not a whole day off but just something i really fancied.
I have been pretty bad food wise this week as i have wanted cake, real cake lol, and chocolate, not SW cake or a curly wurly!. And these are obviously very high syns so i have kind of just said ''ah well, its tough, i cant have it with my syns, so im just going to blow it'' :(
Did so well and was soo strong the first few weeks and even though i am loving the food and rate of weight loss, for some reason i am getting cravings now for crisps, chocolate, cake, pizza etc etc! I even crave the skin off the roast chicken (yuk!)

So, does anyone have a ''treat'' once a week to keep you on track?
Im such a pig :( i have 15 syns a day and still want more xx

I don't think of it as 'treating' myself, but more using the plan really..!

If I have done well and lost some weight I will use flexible syns on a Friday night, this way I don't blow it and have a huge pig-out on junk - which I could very easily do!!

I will allow myself 30 syns on a Friday and that is normally well enough for a treat, such as cake or more recently mine seems to be cottage pie made the 'real way' I just cant bear mince substitutes to make it green or cant stand swede on top to make it red.

This is my way of not losing the plot completely, it works for me. But it is probably best to speak to your consultant as in my mind I'm still using the plan, but others may think not!

I actually struggle to use my syns some days!

Other days I struggle to resist....today I was in a room with plates of biscuits, then plates of cake, doughnuts and danish pastries - was really pleased with myself when I resisted the lot!

I think i've been using the 'treating myself' idea as an excuse, so am no longer going to do it, but instead plan nice things into my meals.

i have a chinese after WI and i choose the lowest syn value, it feels really nice not to cook for 1 day a wk

I often have a little something after weigh in - not a blow out or anything, but as I've mentioned in previous posts, I tend to keep my syns fairly low. So after a good WI, I might have a low syn value takeaway, or maybe a freddo bar (5 syns) or a Curly wurly (6 syns).

Obviously, if it's a special occasion, for example my birthday in a couple of weeks, I'm anticipating a bit of a blow out, but I intend to try and stick back to the plan straight after, even though I should be at target then!

I have a bourneville bar, but its less a treat & more a habit now as i have it regardless of the result at weigh in & its still within my daily syns.

My friend and i often get a chinese after WI (we share tho and only get beef and mushrooms with boiled rice) but like yllw355 said it is nice to not cook!

I do go out to eat often so i could not treat myself in all these situations. About every 2-3 months tho my husband and i go out for a meal, at this meal i will treat myself and have flexi syns, but i can often stick to it being within my 15 syns as i actually like healthy foods now. And i have to ask myself 'is it really worth it?'

Before SW i would have happily had a burger and chips when out, after making my own SW burgers i wouldn't go back to cheap shop burgers!

If i do think it is worth is, i will treat myself to it then get back on plan straight away. It is only one meal after all!

Many years ago when i joined SW with a different friend we used to go out after WI - we would have 2-3 bottles of wine, fish and chips (or similar) chocolates and crisps...basically whatever we could get. I would often wake up hungover with a chipatti in my handbag!! - we were only 18 at the time! But then we would both spend all week trying to counteract the 'treat' night. Looking back now it was not worth it! and to be fair, we probably didn;t have much weight to loose, unlike now!!!

on my birthday week i had pie and chips from the chippy. i decided that i decerved it and i was good the rest of the week, i only puy on 1 lb and it was really worth it

I have a Twirl on my way home from WI. I used to get a cheeseburger from McDonalds as I have to walk past McDs on my way to and from WI. I have now started buying a Twirl on the way there and eating it slowly on the way home, and also started crossing the road before I get to McDs!!

OMG I nearly died laughing at your post! I "liked" it but I wish there was a LOVE option :8855:

Chun-ky I used to have a treat night when I joined SW first time around. On WI night I'd have dinner with dessert and wine with my boyfriend at the time and not worry about syns. But I was having like 1 0r 2 syns daily so it probably evened out. These days I use a lot of my syns for additions to meals etc everyday so I can't really afford to have treats over my syn allowance. I'm not complaining though, it's just different way of playing with my syns!

Think i just need a really hard kick up the bum to get going again! Im wasting my syns on mayo, and banana mullers and im bord of curly wurlys :) Just need some variety i think. I love the food i am having and feel satisfied and full after eating. I guess its just that old habits die hard, my head says no but my mouth wants naughty food!!

Thanks for your replys, i am soo glad no one said ''yeah, i eat tons of crap once a week'' lol coz i'd have gone ''fab, thats my new plan!'' I am so influential ha ha :)

It's funny, I've LITERALLY just had this conversation with my Mum. I've been doing a meal plan for next week and then asked my mum to check it (she has done the plan in the past) and she said you need a treat night (after WI). When she did it she lost 7stone or something (i was young so don't remember) and won slimmer of the year and all sorts of things, so she knows what shes talking about i reckon! She said that after WI on a wednesday night we'd always have a McDonalds on the way home and sometimes that was the only way she could stick to plan 100% the rest of the week. She'd look forward to it all week and then wouldn't fancy "crap" for the rest of the week after that/make up for the extra syns etc.

So yes I fully intend on having a treat night/night off once i start going to class on the 5th (new group starting) :D

EDIT: having just read your last post, when i say treat night I don't mean binge night, i mean like a portion of chips on the way home/normal sausages instead of low fat ones something like that..

I havent gone off plan since I started... I have been to Wetherspoons a few times and always opt for the Sweet Chilli Noodles with chicken as theyre delicious and probably one of the lowest syns

Ever since I joined SW I have always had my usual Sundays Dinner, meat, veg, potato's just cut out roast potatoes, stuffing or yorkshire pud...

I'm another person who eats out a fair bit and is a big fan of these Sweet Chilli Noodles. They're gorgeous, and either 1 syn if served without chicken or 10 syns with the chicken. I tend to go for no chicken as I can't justify spending 9 syns on something I know I could make myself SF!

Back to topic... Sometimes I do have a meal off, but that tends to be when I'm socialising as opposed to just having a treat. On a Thursday (WI day), I try to save some syns so I can allow myself a little something when I get home from class, but if I've already used my syns up I tend to just go without.

The 5 bean chilli with rice & tortillas is 6 syns, or 2 syns if you don't have the tortillas! Thats on green or extra easy

I think it's a bit counterproductive to talk about 'going off plan', as though food optimising is some kind of restrictive system that we all want to break free from. Surely that's what flexi syns are for!

Not sure anyone was talking about going off plan tbh- my treat is 12 syns. Well within my daily allowance, and even if people do want to go off plan for their treat night its up to them.

Personally i don't buy into flexisynning. If i am not on plan, i am off plan. No grey area, and therefore i know the consequences.

The title of this thread mentions 'off plan'! My point was that if we think of SW as a plan to 'go off', then we haven't really embraced it as a way of eating for life and it's less likely to be sustainable in the long term.

Ah - see that is probably where we differ tbh. I don't believe that if you have off plan days or meals it means you have not bought into the plan. In fact, being able to have an off plan day or meal, and then go back to the plan in full knowledge of the consequences, guilt free, strikes me as a very healthy attitude to have to food. SW isn't a cult after all & slim people will often eat healthy during the week & then relax @ weekends

I also think that we delude ourselves sometimes about SW stopping us feeling deprived. It certainly reduces those feelings, but it can't get rid of them entirely because you just can't have everything you want sometimes within the plan. You have to choose between the bourneville bar & the 2 glasses of wine to stay on plan - so inevitably you are occasionally going to feel deprived.

I firmly believe that SW is a healthy sensible safe way to loose & maintain weight. But i am not perfect, and neither is the plan- hence we are perfect for each other :)
