I vote for MAX. Think it is a lovely name for a boy dog.

I've heard (although not sure how true it is) that dogs respond better to names that start with an 'S' as its a strong dominant letter and they know who's in charge when being called. It might just be a load of nonesense and just been born out of 'Sit' and 'Stay'.

Anycase here are some doogy names starting with 'S'.

we call ours stinks or stinky sometimes (not his real name, but he does smelly farts) well it begins with an s. he answers to it now. we got him from the pound 8 year ago poor things had humbteen names.

I have been given the lovely job of naming a puppy, he is male and nearly 8 weeks old, german shepherd.
He needs a strong short name and the only one I can think of is Mak.

I had an auntie Lilly whose husband was called Billy lol!

My uncle used to breed Staffs and one of his bitches had 5 pups, he named them after all his sister-in-laws! Lilly, Dotty, Ann, Joan and Panchy! Of course the new owners changed them but he was in terrible trouble until they were sold lol!

We have not long got pups and ours are called MAX and
JAZZ(Y) ( originally JASPER but now shortened. . . was to much of a mouthful)
Hubby and 1 of our sons wanted to call one of them BOB "it obviously didn't happen" they are Hungarian Visla's and never suited BOB :chores016:

Congrats on your arrival -Jake is a lovely "boy" name.

I have 2 Portuguese Water dogs - Finley (gets called Finn mostly) and Cleo.

Good luck with your socialisation and hope you find a good Puppy Class for him.

we got an 8 week old choc labrador on tuesday - we've called him Bertie! I wanted to call him Max but bf decided he looked more like a Bertie x
