Donkey's journey to deal with disordered eating and lose 6 stone!

Where are you moving to donkey?!

How's your weekend started off?

How's your weekend started off?

Not me, Rae Rae is moving house, although I am spending an unreasonable amount of time on rightmove atm, I will be staying put until I move for my PGCE :)
I went to bed at 6am this morning so I have done absolutely nothing today despite my plans to go to the market and stock up on really cheap fruit and veg to snack on. Had a horrible 10 minutes when I couldn't find my cat anywhere and convinced myself she must have got on to the window sill and fell, but she eventually emerged from under the bed when I got the cat treats out -_-

How about you? How did that meal go?

Ohhhh I'm such a silly! Where are you doing your pgce?

That meal was absolutely gorgeous. Nepalese food is like nothing I've ever tasted before. The manager lied though and said things weren't fried. They clearly had a lot of oil in them though! I also had two pieces of bread. I don't regret it though, I really enjoyed it. I just made sure i ate well the day after and today, did some exercise and had less syns/0 syns. We have pizza night every week where I make my own pizza base but I'm gonna have a cauliflower base today To save on syns. I'm not hopeful on how it'll taste!

Ooo what kinda cat do you have and what's his/her name? House cat?

I'm glad you enjoyed it, great attitude to have :D Cauliflower pizza base?! How do you make that? Let me know how it tastes!
Although I have to reapply because there wasn't a deferral option once I was accepted, I'm going to UEA for the PGCE because I really like Norwich and I have family who live on the Norfolk Broads in a really beautiful village, so it's a good place to be for me.

My cat's name is Sweetpea, she's your run of the mill domestic short hair. I found her advertised on gumtree at around 8 months old and when I went to pick her up the place was horrible. They had so many cats running around, it was thick with smoke, tvs blaring and filthy. She had no name and the mother was a stray who hadn't come back since the litter were tiny and she clearly wasn't too well socialised. I took her to the vet pretty quickly because she had this alarming reverse sneeze thing going on and to get her spayed and the vet found all this bruising in her ears which was likely from people abusing her and she had some infection that they get from being around loads of other cats in bad conditions. They'd never even clipped her claws, it was so sad. But she's alright now, she's too much of a 'fraidy cat to go outside though so yes she's a house cat.

Aww she's so beautiful! My cat is called pippington (pip for short). She's half british shorthair, half persian and she's so so naughty! She's started doing poos outside her litter tray for some reason so I'm just browsing for a new litter box as she's had hers for about a year.

The cauliflower pizza base was actually a triumph! I'm surprised at how tasty it was! I used 2 hex a's of sainsburys basics mozzarella though (100g total) so I feel a bit I wary about that but it's still within my allowable hexs on an original day! I'm not having any syns tonight though just because I still feel a tiny bit guilty. It's no different to other homemade pizza nights where I have 50g mozzarella (hex a 1) and 45g feta (hex a b) I suppose! This is the recipe but I tweaked it a bit. I used about half.

Dreading weigh in on Monday now. Hoping I have lost just 1 pound. Will be gutted with a STS or gain I think. When's your next weigh in?

PS I have some friends in Norfolk at UEA and they absolutely love it! It's nice to be in the countryside :)

Ohhhh Pippington is actually adorable, how diddy and fluffy :D That's strange that she's just started to go out of the box, have you moved it or anything? Sweetpea's is a big covered one which fortunately she still is ok with after nearly a year, because I reeeeally don't want an uncovered one!
Sweetpea can be pretty naughty too but it's usually a great source of entertainment to watch lol. She has a major thing for elastic bands (or my hair bands) and tries to whack me when I take them away from her. Also is strangely attracted to usb cables - I guess they're particularly tasty?!

That pizza looks far more pizza...y than I would have expected on a cauli base! I might have to give that a go at some point. It sounds like you've stayed within syns overall and it's not a huge difference from your other pizza nights - I think you might be fretting unnecessarily! Fingers crossed for a loss on Monday but you're do well either way! Mine is on Tuesday - time to see how much damage the month off has done!

Keep hearing about people enjoying UEA so I'm pretty happy with that choice :)

Yummy... USB cables...Hair bands? That's a new one. Pip has no interest in them or anything that could be seen as endearing. OMG donkey she's done it again! She can't be going senile, she's only 1. We use the same litter we always use and her litter box has always been in the same place. Any tips? It's driving me insane. I came back home after a crazy shift to a steaming cat turd :(. Want to swap cats? Sweetpea sounds lovely. I'm pretty sure my cat hates me.

So what are your plans for the week ahead? Are you going to try any new recipes? Are you vegetarian or did I make that up?

Weird :S Usually if they start doing that it's to say something is wrong, so it might be worth a trip to the vet, orrr perhaps she had some pain trying to go in there at some point - if they're constipated they associate the pain with the box and often go outside it, it happened with Sweetpea once. I was so paranoid that she was going to start avoiding the box though that I doused it with boiling water several times and disinfected it really thoroughly before putting litter in again. She seemed happier with the new brand of litter but don't know if it was a coincidence.
Do you feed her wet or dry? Maybe try a different litter, they can be super picky over that? I'm sure Pip loves you reeeally :p They're just so finnicky, plus Sweetpea will try to whack you if you shoo her away from your dinner, she has an attitude!

Nothing particular planned this week, WI is looming on Tuesday though! Trying to eat fruit this week because I barely eat any, so I've bought a ton today and will probably stock up at the Birmingham markets midweek. I'm not vegetarian but you've probably got it from me mentioning that I am not a big meat eater. I will eat chicken and ham now and then but usually in salads, stir fry or sandwiches and that's about it.
How are you feeling about WI?

I find it so funny when cats try to whack people. They're so helpless! I reckon they'd be pretty dangerous if they had thumbs - like in the old cravendale milk advert. We feed her both wet and dry. She's very fussy so always needs options otherwise she doesn't eat at all!

Need to weigh in now but I'm freaking out.

So don't you ever get cravings for say... A huge burger or a steak? You're kinda lucky you're not a massive meat eater anyway because it's so expensive! People always say it's cheaper to eat healthily but it really isn't! It's good you can go to markets for the fruit and veg because supermarkets have definitely lost the plot with how much they're charging!

8:03am... In an attempt to avoid weighing in, I might go back to sleep and weigh myself when I wake up again. I need to get over this weigh fear. It's not helpful.

Have a great day :)

I know, it's hysterical! The first time she did it to me we were eating takeaway off the coffee table and she stood up on her back legs to have a sniff, so I shooed her away with my hand and the crazy whacking came out - I nearly fell off the sofa laughing :D Omg that cravendale advert is SO true - we'd all be in trouble then!
Very occasionally I'll fancy meat, and I do have a fair bit in the freezer, it just sits there for ages though, plus my parents bought it for me so I didn't have to pay :p I am lucky, especially as a student it was a great way to live. I only discovered the fruit and veg markets this year unfortunately but they're great - even if I want to buy meat there is a huge indoor market for that, the quality and price is far better than at any supermarket. I went to aldi yesterday to pick up some fruit and even there the price compared to the markets is high - you can fill huge plastic bowls full of fruit or veg for 1 pound, it's amazing!
I'd prefer to eat real meat over vegetarian subs usually, fish aside because I don't like it at all, although I do like the low fat quorn sausages which are syn free!

Oh the weigh in fear. We all have it! Thing is, the way I am forcing myself to look at it is that, no matter what the result is I will carry on with the sw plan, because what is the other option? Go back to what I was before and be full of self loathing? It's just a tiny part of our weight loss journeys really and we definitely need to see the bigger picture! I hope it went well for you though!

Think I'm going back to bed now. I've been sick twice in the last hour, no idea why, there's not even anything in my stomach to get rid of so it's bloody hurting! Guessing my morning tablets weren't absorbed either. Pah.

Oh no! Feel better soon donkey :(

Thanks timmi, I feel absolutely fine now so who knows what that was all about lol. Have slept a whole lot so maybe I just needed a rest. Going to WI today! Time to get the weight shifting again :D

Just noticed - YOU'RE BELOW 30!!!! Wooooop! :party0023:

Subscribing :) I'm rejoining tomorrow after finally being diagnosed with BED and will be continuing my therapy whilst on the journey. Glad to find a similar diary! x

Hiya Skulldilocks! Well done for rejoining, first step is always the hardest and all that. I haven't gone the therapy route since sw seems to be helping on its own just now, but I hear it can be really helpful in combination with sw. Best of luck :)

Well I went to WI, didn't stay to group because my head is hurting but I did face the music - 5 1/2 pounds on! That's really not so bad and it will come off now I'm back on track, could have been a whole lot worse frankly! Onwards and downwards!

Hey 5.5lbs is definitely not bad for all that time off enforced non-plan stuff. Really pleased you're so positive about where you'll go from here. You're wonderful Donkey :).

Haha I can't believe I finally got to below 30! Today I feel a bit chunky though - chucked on a massive tshirt over my gym top this morning. Dunno what's come over me!

How's your today been in general?

Aww you're so nice timmi, thanks :D 6 was the figure I had in my head that I really really didn't want to have gone over, so 5.5 is good by me :) I honestly think the reason I'm ok with it is that I'm not seeing the overall weight - the stone brackets do things to my head lol. So yeah I'll just get back on it, although I miiiight have just had curry....the non sw type :p I'm so back on it tomorrow though.
Today has been ok, my head is hurting like crazy right now but I think it's the weather so there's not much I can do. Low barometric pressure sucks - clearly I need to move to somewhere sunny and calm weathered! Just trying to find a job, had a call back and phone interview unexpectedly this afternoon and my application is being sent to the hiring manager now but I'm not too sure about it, there was a lot of blagging on my part about my cv lol.

haha, don't we all have the 'chunky' days?! I'm all about the baggy tops allll the time, but yay for getting to under 30! Must feel great, you've done so well - I think I'd have packed it in long ago if I had to do shifts like yours.

How's your day back on it going?

Ahh man, the atmospheric pressure affects your symptoms? That's so annoying - wish you could have more control over it. The weather being responsible is just unfair!

Yeah shift work doesn't help me stay on plan but I figured my life is shift work so I've got to make it work. I usually just take 1 meal's worthy of food so I'll make a soup or a salad and take that in along with some fruit and a syn snack.

Do you ever get that thing where no matter how much you try you fall asleep in lectures (even if they're not boring) and you can't bring yourself to concentrate? Really struggling with that today :(

Ps good luck with the job stuff. Great news about going through to the next stage!
