Does anyone on here have it? I do but it isnt as bad now compared to when i was younger. It usually comes back in the summer where parts of my body dont get any air.

Anyone have it?

Eczema sufferer here and have had it since I was born (now 35). It isn't anywhere near as bad as when I was younger. When I was 10 I was hospitalised as it practically covered my whole body. I tend to get flare up's not with a change in the weather or when I'm run down - usually on my neck and hands.

Used to get it a lot when I was baby and was often hospitalised. they would tye my hands to the side of the cot to stop me scratching!!
Then when I was 6/7 I remember whenever we went to the seaside my mum would have to take bottles of tap water to rinse me down as the sand and salt water would start it off again.
Haven't had it for years until the last 2/3 years and my arms in particular have very bad spots that itch like MAD! Just got some streriod cream from the docs which seem to be helping. Didn't think it was eczema at first as it is totally different than when I was young.

yeah i had since i was a baby, my mum used to have to put mittens on me n stuff and i remember having this tar stuff in m baths but it was mank lol clothes used to irritate me alot and my mum told me when i was in junior school i used to take all my clothes off coz they made me itch lol atm ive got a very bad patch on both of my legs, upper inner thigh and its completely red and sore. Nothing seems to be making it better and obv coz no air gets to it and ive got my underwear rubbing on it constantly... its making my confidence go down alot. I know i shud go to the doctors but im well embarrassed about it, ive never known eczema to be that bad tho so not sure if it is or not

I remember having all that tar stuff put on me as well! Yuk!
The Aqueus cream I use instead of soap and also as a skin moisturiser. You really do need to see your doctor. They have seen everything believe me! There is no need to feel embarassed. Do get some professional help though. If he/she can't find something to help you then you should be sent to see a specialist at the hospital.

I've had it for years. I'm in the middle of a flare up on my hands at the moment. My doctor gave me Betnovate Ointment for a maximum of 14 days (only needed it for 8) stepping down to Hc45 for 7 days. She also gave me a huge tub of emulsifying ointment for washing.

I know but it looks sooo horrible, i hate it. Atm ive had to put cream on and sum tissue over the top so my underwear stops rubbing on it. Ive never had this, i sometimes get the odd friction burns on my legs but not this. Im gonna go doctors monday, even if i am feeling a bit silly about it, i need to get it looked at

I used to suffer from it quite badly (up until the age of 14). I was covered from head to feet and no creams the Doctors gave me worked for long on my broken weepy skin. Until my Mum took me to a Chinese Herbal clinic in Wembley Central. I was seen to and was given some herbs that had to be boiled and was told to drink 3 cups a day aswell as to not eat wheat or any dairy products.
Within 2 wks my skin looked as though I had never suffer from severe exzema. I was walking tall with my head up high. I had to have the herbal teas for 6 months and to stay away from those ingredients.
After the treatment i was fine to have wheat and dairy products and i haven't had the skin problem since i was 15yrs old.

If you can it could be a good idea to try it out if possible

Aveeno Cream - available on prescription or from Boots it's fantastic. The doctor may moan about giving it to you on pres cos its about £7/8 per tube but a locom doctor once gave it to my little girl and it was amazing. It cleared up her eczema which was quite bad. Its oatmeal based which is really beneficial apparently. You can also get Aveeno to put in the bath. Its definitely worth a try, we still use it now and it keeps it at bay.

Kat, great news about seeing the Doctor as it sounds like you have a serious flare up (I feel your pain). I don't think Hydrocortisone, Aqueous and E45 are strong enough and you will you will need a serious steroid ointment like Betnovate or Locoid to clear up the flaring before dropping down to one of the other creams. Please let us know how you get on xx

ive decided to go n see the doctor 2moro, its getting worse and it hurts all the time. Like i said atm ive got to put tissue or sumthing over it after putting cream on otherwise my underwear sticks to my skin. If it is my eczema then i really didnt know it could get this bad, i think it might be my smoking irritating it but i dont know. I havent heard of these creams that most of you have mentioned on here, but will hopefully have something to help clear it up. Will update on here after ive been to the doctors... thank you everyone :)

ok turns out i have some sort of infection, the doctor has given me cream and said ive gotta use for about 5 days i think but then gotta carry on for at least 10 days for it to clear up completely. God knows how i got the infection, he said its not got anything to do with my ezcema so now i know why my creams weren't working lol

At least you've got to the bottom of it and can treat it properly.

I used to have bad when I was a child, very much like everyone else's stories on here. It has fot eh most past cleared up but I do get outbreaks every now and again.

I got one a few months ago and just used the steroid cream my doctor last gave me but it just got worse, I kept putting it off but it was getting so bad I was almost at the point where I didn't want to go into work. After a few false starts my doctor finally managed to get to the bottom of that, it was a fungal infection, it's all cleared up and so glad I finally went to the doctor!

Yeah he said mines a fungal infection, but i dont know how its all started. It really hurts, its got to the point now where i can just about walk, it hurts so bad

I feel for you Kat112409, mine wasn't painful but was across my forhead and all the way round my neck, so not anywhere I could cover up!

It takes a couple of days but if you put the cream on at least a couple times a day after washing then you should start to see an improvement and feel better!

Do you have eczema anywhere else?

I've suffered since birth as well, touch wood the last couple of years have not been as bad, I tend to get really bad flare ups in the winter once the central heating goes on.

I had like 3 hours sleep last nite coz i was in agony. I have drops for my ears now tho so hopefully be better ina few days. Im out with my mates on friday, i was hoping i'd lose weight before seeing them all again but nevermind :(
