EXERCISE ON SS+

My CDC has told me not to do any exercise while I'm on SS+. She said if I do, I won't lose weight!

I was just wondering if anybody else has been given the same advice by their CDC and/or if anyone knows the reason why you can't exercise while following SS+.

I look forward to your comments x

I've also been told not to exercise, I'm doing 100% SS. I used to do 4-5 mile runs but can't d anything now until we reassess next week..it's basically because ketosis causes your body to burn the fat, but doing exercise on so few calories would confuse your body and it would instead store the excess fat to use as energy during exercise...therefore you wouldn't lose any weight

Iv exersised from my 2nd week on SS+ and had good losses...in the manual they do say not to undertake any new form of exersise the first few weeks...sounds like realy bad and misleading advice you have been given:-(

My consultant says as long as you don't over do it and listen to what your body is telling you will be okay to exercise a little

I was also told the same by my CDC however after only losing 2lbs on my second weigh in I have been at the gym everyday this week. Weigh in on Wednesday so I'll know if and how it's made an impact then!

There is so much conflating advice about exercise on CD - I think if you have not done much exercise before then the first few weeks is not a good time to start any, however if you are used to exercise there shouldn't be any reason why you shouldn't carry on (listening to your body).. There is a sticky at the top all about this. Not sure if I can put the link in

Claire, I'll be very interested to find out how you get on with your 3rd weigh-in on Wednesday after all the exercise. I also only lost 2lbs on my 2nd week. My third weigh-in is 2moro. I haven't done any exercise.

3stone off in just 7 weeks - truly amazing! Well done - you should be very proud of yourself.

Thanks very much for the link.

As you say, lots of conflicting advice! As I'm still suffering from a lot of headaches at the end of week 3, I think I'll give it another week before attempting perhaps some gentle exercise such as walking on the treadmill. I'll see what the scales say 2moro!

Thanks for the explanation - it makes sense! x

I'll let you know how I get on after my weigh in on wednesday casablanca, I lost 6lbs in my first week and only 2lbs on my second. Hopefully hitting the gym will help me. I'm finding this diet really difficult to fit in to my life as I am always out socialising in clubs, pubs, and restraunts, so the gym really gives me something to do and passes time for me whilst I'm off the social scene!

Another 2lbs off for me this week, making a total loss of 13lbs in 3 weeks :)

Well done on your loss

Well done on your loss Casablanca! Had my week 3 weigh in managed to lose 5lbs this week with excersise, certainly an improvement on last weeks 2lbs! So I would defo reccomend doing some excersise. Only 1 more pound till I'm down a stone :D excited for next weeks weigh in already!

Fantastic! Well done! I'm chuffed for you. I may just sneak a bit of "illegal" exercise in over the next few days, lol!

Only 1 more pound till I'm down a stone too. Hope next week's weigh-in is briliant for us both (Monday for me) :)

Just my two pence worth ladies - I lost 2lbs week one on SS and no exercise, 3lbs weeks two with SS no exercise and week three went to SS+, done exercise and lost FIVE pounds. I wouldn't advocate something that CD say we shouldn't be doing because of course everyone is different however I'm just sharing my own experience and people may or may not wish to use this in conjunction withe experience of others to make thier own choice. I took it easy and it was not to the standard of my normal work outs - I was very tired afterwards and noticed my hunger increased although I remained in ketosis according to ketostix - just some things for you to consider when making your choice -and best of luck with whatever you decide x

Thanks for your input Slimboots.

I was thinking of gentle exercise only, walking on my treadmill.

I don't think I've ever actually been in ketosis. I feel hungry to some extent every day more or less!

I'm a bit worried now, I've been told to introduce exercise into my routine. Im doing SS.

I'm on week 7 so well into it. Did Zumba on the Kinect, 20min class on high intensity. Not too hard but a bit sweaty afterwards.

Planning on doing this twice a week - should I up it or decrease intensity, or stop altogether?

Help! Xx

God, it's so confusing, isn't it?? Lots of conflicting advice on whether to exercise or not. I'm beginning to think the only way to find out is to do some exercise and see if it makes any difference to your weight loss or not.

Let me know how you get on and good luck x
