Feeling low (again)

:badmood::tear_drop::mad: Hi all,

I'm sorry to post a thread which brings the tone down, but I really feel I need to get it off my chest.

I have had a couple of really low weeks, last Monday night I read AmandaJaynes Management thread which really inspired me and I woke up Tuesday feeling much more positive.

Today I thought I would go through my wardrobe and try on some smaller clothes as my work trousers are a little big. I don't want to go out and spend money on another pair as I feel that I would be letting myself down as I have the next size down in my wardobe waiting. I also do not have the money.

Great I thought, I have some really nice trousers in there and I should now be able to fit in them comfortably. This was not the case. I did fit in them but they felt to tight to wear to work as I do get a lot of bloating and feeling self concious can cause me to bloat (let alone without having all this water). I have therefore, put them back into my wardrobe and will carry on wearing my current pairs which has throughly depressed me.

I am 5ft 4". My start weight was 12.9st and as of Thursday my morning weight was 10.6st. What has been getting me down is that I wanted to get to 9-9 1/2st by the end of foundation, I am now in week 9 and am not going to reach this target. I wanted to go straight into management and now just feel that I am not doing well enough. I know these are all crooked thoughts etc but it is just so hard.

The rest of my group are having great weight losses and look fab, they have all gone down in wardrobe sizes and I haven't. I exercise 4 x a week for an hour and a half and yet still lose a lot less and my bum and hips are still my problem area, plus this time around (I have lost 4 stone in the past eating a healthy diet to begin with!! and exercising 4-5 x a week in the beginning before I got to obssessed and lost too much weight) my stomach is so fatty and I can see the cellulite.

Well, thats it. I'm so sorry to have a winge, I just really needed to get this out. This is such a rollercoaster.

I hope you are all going well and enjoying your experience.

And I bet they are looking in the mirror wishing they looked better. We always think it's just us, but I reckon they are probably thinking the same thing about themselves.

Look...this is your journey and yours alone. It doesn't matter what the others are doing. In a while, they will be gone their separate ways and it wont matter at all.

I remember being in quite a similar place though, so I do understand. Okay, my support group was on the forums, and as others were cheating and still losing more than me, it can get disheartening. But where are they now? Goodness only knows. Maybe they got so used to cheating, knowing they could lose it again, that they never made it to maintenance, or kept it off. Maybe they did just fine, and are sky diving somewhere. It doesn't matter as far as my weightloss is concerned.

You'll get there, and the hard work you have already put in will pay dividends. You've already done so well, be proud :)

As for clothes...Ebay is your friend. I hardly bought anything from a shop from Size 24 down to 14. I did buy good quality As New clothes from Ebay though. When I got to target I went out and had a good shopping spree. I just couldn't justify buying clothes at full price when I wasn't going to be in them for that long, so I bought and sold.

So, chin up. You're doing just great :)

Betty Boo - please dont be disheartened. I am in a similar boat, in that I too feel my weight loss is too slow!

Oddly enough I am the same height as you, but boy was I so much heavier when I started!! I am looking fwd to being 12 stone something, and I had set my goal weight at 10 and half stone!!! Now, I am thinking maybe I need to lose over a stone more than I had thought!!

We are never happy are we, and LL is part of our learning process!!

Happy dieting!

Hi,

Thank you for your kind response. I think I am just being over sensitive (as normal)

I know I have done well to stick at this for so long without lapsing. You are so right. This is my weight loss and no one else's and I am not competing against anyone (Just that silly chatterbox at times).

:wow: You have done so well, 8 stone with 1 stone to go, that is amazing. I wish you all the success with the next stage, whatever that may be.

I will have a look on ebay and see what I can see.

Thank you so much for your kind words.

Betty boo....dont feel down hun we all lose weight at different rates......

Hi Sez,

Thank you, It is horrible to know other people feel the same as you, as you don't want other people feeling down but at the same time it is nice to know that other people have ups and downs too.

Oddly enough I am the same height as you, but boy was I so much heavier when I started!! I am looking fwd to being 12 stone something, and I had set my goal weight at 10 and half stone!!! Now, I am thinking maybe I need to lose over a stone more than I had thought!!

Even though we are the same height, it doesn't mean that we will suit the same weight. Do not dishearten yourself with what I want to be my target and what you have set as your target. We will both have different bone structures and if I am honest I think my target is probably to low for my body to function correctly because when I drop below a certain weight my periods stop.

I must also admit that my sister is a big factor in this target weight as she is a healthy 9 stone and to me a perfect size 8-10 for her bone structure. She is two and a half years younger then me and has always been skinny whereas I am not. Naturally I am around a size 12 and she had told me this is when I look me best. But, you always want the un-obtainable or unrealistic option.

You must not let my idea of a target change yours, this will make you so unhappy as you will feel it is going to take you longer. See how you feel when you get to your target, then talk it through with your counsellor, or the mini community. You have done so well please keep it up. :princess:

Thank you Sonkie, deep down I know that but someone else re-iterating this helps.

Betty please don't feel so low --- there is a good chance you could make it to 9.5stone as you've still got 5 weeks left in foundation so and less than a stone to lose. Think positively, you have done so well up to now - don't compare yourself to others as that will never do you any good.

Stay strong

Cath

Thank you Cath

5 weeks left and doesn't time fly when you are having fun!!

Your right, I will, fingers crossed make it well into the 9's by the end of foundation.

Good luck with your journey.

Hi,

Thank you for your kind response. I think I am just being over sensitive (as normal)

Hey...we all get like that at times. Good to have a vent when you feel like this isn't it.

:wow: You have done so well, 8 stone with 1 stone to go, that is amazing. I wish you all the success with the next stage, whatever that may be.

Is that me you're referring to? If so, thanks. I am at goal, not sure where you got the '1 stone to go' bit from. Perhaps it wasn't for me :D

Yeah, have a look on ebay. It's fun. A little addictive mind you:rolleyes:

Aw Betty, I'm sorry you're feeling naffed off with your weight loss at the moment.

It's great though that you can come here and get support from the likes of Karion, Katie, Sonkie and Sez, who have all been there before you, plus me too.

You've had some great advice and support and I hope you're feeling a bit more positive.

I know it's hard not to compare yourself to anyone else (we've all done it) because there are lots of reasons why your weightloss/size loss will differ from everyone else's.

You are doing an impressive amount of exercise at the same time - 4 times a week for 1 and a half hours each time. That's obviously having some sort of effect, but I don't see how it could slow weightloss down or reduce inch loss?

Perhaps you could start another thread asking this specific question? There's bound to be members who specialise in this field and can help.

As for the bloating, you are right not to wear any clothing which is tight, as this does cause bloating and associated discomfort. I can sympathise with you not being able to move into smaller trousers just now. But, keep doing what you're doing and you WILL.

"...my stomach is so fatty and I can see the cellulite..."

I do sympathise. Sigh, I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that no matter now much weight I lose, I will never get rid of the loose skin or stretchmarks which really spoil my appearance. I can never wear a bikini, it's just to unsightly. However, the alternative (overeating again to 'fit' my skin) is much worse so I'd better get used to it.

Just a quick question, have you been measuring your body fat % regularly? I bet that, with all this exercise you've been doing, you will have lost a fair proporation of fat from your body composition, and replaced it with muscle mass, which weighs more. Just a thought.

I hope you have a good week and a good weightloss this week.

Regards
AmandaJayne

Hi Karion,

Yes, I think we all need to vent a little bit of anger at times!

I did intend to write about your weight loss. It must have taken a huge amount of determination and guts to stick this through. I read the 1 week since reaching goal as a 1 stone to lose. I am sorry I added a stone back on you, not great hey!!

Thank you

AmandaJayne,

You look fab and I am sure you look stunning in a bikini, the image you have is probably not the image that the rest of us see - it's so easy giving advice, just not taking it!

You could be right about the muscle mass, I haven't been thinking about this. I was thinking that doing the amount of exercise I do this might cause my body to hold onto the foodpacks as I am not eating anything else and my body does not have enough to repair itself after each gym seesion - I may start another thread as you have suggested and see if anyone can help.

I haven't been watching my fat percentage, I don't have the scales that do this and I don't want to get addicted to measring this too, but I imagine you are right as I probably have lost more than I think. It's a shame out LL councellor can't measure this when we have our weigh weekly weigh in - I might mention this on Thursday

Bloating is awful and I think nerves do play a big part for me unfortunatly, hopefully LL will help me overcome this eventually.

Thank you AJ and all you others that have replied, you are a great bunch and I appreciate your advice and understanding.

I'm going to look forward to a good week and weight loss.

Ahem! 21 months and one week since reaching goal. Can't let that pass, the first 21 months was the hardest :D

Glad to help, Betty.

Can I just add that I managed to reduce my body fat % from 49% (of 17.13) to 24% (of 10.5). That was without any gym exercise, just lots of walking.

Most supermarkets (I used the one in Tescos last week) have a special weighing machine which gives you a printout which includes fat %. It's quite useful. I do have a set of scales at home too, and was pleased to see that they showed the same figures.

:whoopass: Ha Ha,

I am so sorry, I do need glasses and am not wearing them at the mo, but that is no excuse. All I can do is say I am sorry and no, you can't let that pass. I think I admire you even more and now realise that maintaining can be done!

xx

Sorry, you can't receive pms yet, so posted my thoughts!
Sorry to hear how you are feeling.
1.) I have a body fat monitor you can borrow, I will bring it on Thursday
2.) You ARE losing weight and it is showing
3.) The people with the greatest weight losses are the heaviest to start with, as you have less to lose it is going to be a bit harder to shift
4.) You are probably building muscle, which weighs heavier than fat, your shape is changing, even if you can't see it
5.) Do your smaller trousers feel uncomfortable because you have spent the last few months wearing looser clothing? I am avoiding wearing more fitted clothing because I am just not used to it!
6.) If you can bear to do the maths, work out what proportion of your body weight you have lost. That would be a fair comparision with other people.
Do you have MSN? If you want to chat anytime I am online most evenings.
Kate :hug99:

Evening,

Thanks for that AmandaJayne, that is a hell of a lot of body fat to lose isn't it. I never really think it's possible but of course it is. I'm so pleased to hear that you managed that with just walking as I think that shows to all of us that you don't need to be a gym bunny on a vlcd for it to work.

I completely forgot about Tesco's having those machines, I think my gym does too (I will just have to make sure it is in a private location before I jump on!

Thank you for the advice. :)

:hug99: Hi Betty Boo. Just wanted to give you a hug!!

We all have these days of feeling despair, feeling fat, feeling like a failure. That's totally normal and part of the journey I think. You have done so well with your weight loss. I'm 11 stone and wish I was 10.6 as I am the same height as you!!

Stick with it. Wishing you lots of luck. :)

Kate,

It is so great to hear from you. I have been thinking about you all week, I noticed that you haven't been on here (that I can see and was hoping all was ok with you and that you are feeling more positive this week) I fully read your thread last Friday and just wanted to say congratulations on the job, that is excellent news and with your weight loss there is nothing stopping you lady. You go for it!

No I can't receive pm's at the moment which is a shame. I do have MSN, but my laptop has broken so once that is up and running I will be able to get on there and have a proper chat with you.

I am absolutely terrified, more so than knowing my starting weight about knowing my body fat percentage. I think it's because last year it was 18% and I know now that it will be very much higher.

Thank you for saying you can see the loss, not many people tell me. I think they all think I am a bit weird at work for doing this diet and as I am knew it doesn't really help as they don't know the real me yet. My family hate raising the issue of weight and looks around me - which I understand.

You are probably right about feeling comfortable in clothes that cover me up. The trousers I've got are meant to be fairly fitted so I guess I do feel a bit uncomfortable showing my hips and bum off - my two problem areas (and now the old tummy too).

I want to say to you that you look great, those clothes you wear are way to big for you. You have definatley got a waist and as you have said before you have gone down is it 5 dress sizes which is incredible in the 9 weeks we have been doing this. Take your advice and head off to the shops/ebay and get yourself some nice clothes too!!

I will give you my details on Thursday and we can then talk on msn.

Keep your chin up and I look forward to seeing you on Thursday. You look stunning.

Hi Janey,

Thanks for your lovely message, I really did need a hug when I started this thread.

You will get to this weight in your time, you are not that far off. I bet you are looking fab at the moment though, keep those thoughts of the 10's in your head. I am sure you will be well in the 10's when you have your next weigh in. Let me know how you go I MEAN IT!

Thank you again hunny.
