Finally back in ketosis on Day 5

Well, the last 4 days have been hellish, have nearly broken it every 5 minutes, but managed to stay strong and feel like a new person today. Finally in ketosis, headache from hell gone and don't feel hungry and cravings are gone! Hoorah!!!
Just thought i'd leave this post to remind people to keep going in those first few days because it does get better ... I promise. Plus it gives you more motivation to not break the diet, because the 4 or 5 days it takes to get back in to ketosis just isn't worth a little nibble!

Hiya!

It's day 5 for me also and I think I'm in Ketosis - never been in it before so I don't know what to expect, but considering I buzzed around the house today scrubbing it from top to bottom and didn't stop until it was finished I do think that maybe this is what to expect lol

I still feel hungry sometimes though, and crave food - I think I do anyway lol

When will that feeling pass?? Or will it never go away??

Well done juju_doll. Can be tough those first few days, but it's so worth it if you stick with it.

Mite be a silly question but how will I know when im in ketosis?

Im only managing to drink about 3-4 litres of water a day, my mouths really dry & now on day 4 im feeling really tired, with lots & lots of cravings of sweet food as it’s the TOTM. I keep on weighing myself (I know ur not meant to) and I havnt really lost anything either?

I really feel like givin up but don’t want to as I have 3 stone to loose. :( :(

Keep going! It i physically impossible not to lose weight on this diet, so you'll soon see the loss. You know if you are in ketosis if you feel less hungry, with more energy and clear headed. But the most accurate way to check is to buy some Ketostix from your local chemist and pee on them! If they go pink then you're in ketosis. I find it really helps to use them, particularly when the scales are not budging, because then i know it's just water hanging on and i'm burning fat!
It seems to be very personal how long it takes to get in ketosis, i did it in 2 days last time, this time it took 5. I think it depends on how much carbs you consumed before and your personal resistance to it. I'd get the ketostix if i were you. Happy new year!

I'm on day 3 and it's killing me (doesn't help that I'm in work today all on my ownsome so feeling a tad resentful and there's a huge choccy machine!) So thanks for the reminder that if we just hang on in there it will all suddenly get sooo much easier. I'm going to pin your post to my computer today:D

yeh i will get some of those Ketostix as i think it will help me. i think it will help me even more when i see some results on the scales as it will make me more determined and also prove to me that this diet works for everyone!!

Ketostix are great-I find I use them every few hours the first few days and then that settles to once a day and then every few days after about 4 weeks.
