First WI, had a naughty day at the weekend :S

I was great, up until the weekend when i caught a stomach bug. I was so ill i couldn't stand it... and i ate, which may have messed the whole thing up.

Restarted after eating, and had my first WI today... i've lost 8lbs this week, regardless of eating two meals at the weekend. Pretty happy with that anyhow. I know i would have lost at least 4lbs more if i hadn't became ill and caved in, but there's no point in looking back on it and feeling bad.

Not to mention that my husband and i are going on holiday for the weekend, and i promised him before i started this diet i'd eat dinner together when we're away!

All i can do it start the diet again on the Monday after, but it really makes me wonder why i'm doing this to myself at times. I hope i don't put the weight back on over the weekend :strikeout_button:Blergh.

EDIT: Feeling much more positive now. Eating the two meals while ill didn't seem to effect my weight loss to any great degree.

Going to eat light healthy food at the weekend and then re-start on Monday :) Looking forward to my weekend away, and then re-starting LT on the Monday!

Almost hitting the lost a stone mark (yessssh)!

Hi Deezombie,

I dunno if this is any help, but I'm on week 3 of TFR and was away last weekend with my OH - a wine tasting afternoon at a hotel we'd arranged months ago.... We went for two nights and here's how I worked it...

First day
Arrived after 'lunch', did nice spa things/swimming/went for a walk. Then room service that evening. I was able to stick to my LT 100%

Second day
Had my LT for breakfast before we went down for his brecky. I tore up a roll for appearances, but stuck to the coffee and water. Then, as we'd lunch in the bar, he had a sandwich while I had coffee/water. Had LT back in the room. Wine tasting... I tasted the wine but spat it out (as one can choose to!). Dinner - it wasn't fair to impose on OH, so we went to the restaurant where I waltzed a green salad around for starters, then had half of the grilled Monkfish and green veg for mains. Peppermint tea while he had banoffi pie . As the next day was a work day, he ordered wine by the glass and I had water.

Tomorrow's my weigh day, so I can tell you exactly how I got on, but the most important thing is it didn't knock me out of ketosis, nor did it trigger any urges to eat further. Had LT for breakfast the next day in the room, and we ordered breakfast through room service for him. I could happily have repeated the roll-dismembering exercise again if he'd wanted to go down for a full feed though :D

I know TFR is just that, but on this occasion, we both compromised, but I didn't feel my diet was ambushed or destroyed with what I did. And I didn't get any grief from him nor did it spoil his weekend...

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. And most importantly, HAVE FUN!!!!
(Sorry for the long post!)

Oh come on!!!!! Are you serious about doing LT TFR? Cuz at the minute it doesnt seem like you are (sorry if this is coming across as harsh) but you really have to be committed otherwise you're going to get nowhere!

I managed a weekend in London with my bf whilst on LT and didnt have anything - not even one tiny crumb of anything he had. I also had a couple of nights out on the town with friends and stuck to water all night. Your bf should respect the fact that you are on LT TFR and are doing something about being overweight - if he doesnt then thats pretty damn mean of him!

Sounds like you are at the start of a slippery slope and you've not even done a full week yet.

Really think about this - maybe you can start after you have been away if you really cant stomach not eating whilst away. That way you will give yourself a better chance.

Its not easy second/third/fourth time around so make your first a good un and do it properly :)

Hey np about the long post, it's appreciated to hear how you got by! I may try and do it the way you did tbh. I was planning to have dinner with him out, but that's about it :)

Thanks so much for this! It makes me feel much better! :) x

I'm committed to loosing weight, but i'm not bothered by the weight loss being slower than it would have been otherwise... then again, i lost 2lbs yesterday/this morning, so the fact it's further slowed me down is debatable.

The only reason i feel bad about eating is because that's a natural reaction when you've told yourself you're not allowed anything but the shakes. I can forgive myself for eating two meals, when i was vomiting & the arse was running off me lol, as should anyone. I actually felt like i was going to pass out, i almost had my husband on the phone to the hospital.

I'm not on a "slippery slope", which is proved by the fact i haven't touched a single thing but the shakes since Sunday. Everyone is different, but i'm not finding it hard this week - like i did at the begining of last. Yes i feel hunger at times, but i have the strengh to say no to the hunger.

My husband does respect me, and anything i want to do. I'd prefer that we were able to eat a meal together, whilst spending the money on a holiday, but that's just my personal choice. I know i can start again on the Monday, no bother.

Everyone has ups and downs on how they feel on TFR... hence the visits to the forum, and the posts. Earlier i felt like i was unsure as to why i'm doing this to myself - now i'm fine.

I personally don't see the point in eating this week and then starting again next week, sure then i'd just further delay my weight loss would i not.

I appreciate what you're saying regardless, and i see you've made your own amazing achievement with your weight loss, so you have plenty of good advice to give.

All the best of luck to you, and thanks anyway. :p

I think what we're all in agreement about is that ideally, abstinence is best. I also know that life gets in the way, and sometimes we need tools to get around a situation. My tools, I guess, include pushing the food around my plate at the various work lunches and dinners I have to attend, and not eat any of it. Ditto the drink. I don't find that difficult. On the very, very rare occasion when I HAVE to eat, a few mouthfuls of fat-free white protein and green veg is the least damaging for me. Or my other trick is to order something I expressly don't like ;)

But, obviously, I try and block out as much time in my diary as possible when I don't need to subject myself to the situation.

Of course there are dates or occasions along the way that cause problems - that's life. Like Tanya mentioned, nights out with friends, or family celebrations. For them, I work on a 'face it when it gets here' basis, as so many plans change, or in reality, the challenge thankfully doesn't arise or can be dodged. But it's certainly worth thinking through the options, and their possible consequences ahead of time so at least your decision is informed.

The thing that always amazes me is how much of our lives and socialising is spent around food

Jeepers, I'm incapable of a short post!:eek::eek:

Here Here Tanya!!!

I started the week after you last year and was totally committed like you were and did not cheat once (the same as you)

Although I dont post much I have followed you and Jans journey and you have both done fantastic well done!!!

I lost 3 stone 8lb in 12 weeks and started putting it back on last October so 2 stone heavier I have restarted lost 8lbs first weigh in and must admit it is harder second time around!!!

Deezombie, hi!
I hope things are going ok with you now, i am normally around alot but have been away for a few days.
I'm happy to hear you seem to be finding this week easier than last week.
I just wanted to say that rememebr this is YOUR diet and you can do it YOUR way, regardless of wether this means you lose the weight slower, it is up to you at the end of the day.

We are here to help you through the tough times and pat you on the back with the achievements.
I have been ill 2 times since starting in Dec and have eaten both times as being well is more important to me than being thin.
I also have just had a weekend away, where AGAIN i ate and drank my little socks off.
I am now on CD but have done LT 2 times and i make my diet fit around me not the other way round. Everyone is different and we all do it our own way.
Some of us need to lose alot of weight and/or asap and have iron will power (most of the time) but it's not for everyone.

I'm sure you will do fine on LT, if you do find it a bit tough going then ask me about CD and i will fill you in as it's a little easier than LT and you have a choice of a 200cal meal.

Good luck with it!!

Yup, whilst this is your choice of diet its also a specific plan to be followed to get maximum results. Why would you want to hinder it or make it a little harder for yourself?

Like grover girl said - life will always throw situations at us and we just automatically respond the way we always have done but i think its a good oportunity for us to realise we dont have to eat and drink to be sociable nor do we have to revolve trips away around food and drink. Its all about the company :)

Hi Dear!

Thanks so much for asking how i am, and giving your support. I greatly appreciate it.

I agree with you 100%, it's my diet, and it's my choice to do it whatever way i like, it is support i'm here for at the end of the day... to talk to people of like mind & to help them through it when i can lend a kind word.

It's nice to hear that you think of it the same way as me! After all it is just a diet. I feel the same as you, making it fit around my life is a better option for me. I'll enjoy myself at the weekend while on holiday, and i'll welcome starting LT again on Monday :) I've planned out what i'm going to do, and i'm sticking to that - which is what matters at the end of the day.

Even before i started LT i felt like i needed to detox, i cut out all bread, red meat anything other than wholemeal rice/pasta. Started eating more salads, lean cuts of meat, goats/sheeps cheese instead of cows etc.

I'd love to chat to you about CD at some stage, thank you :) I'm actually quite enjoying the clean feeling i'm getting from LT atm, but i'm always open to new ideas! I may start to find the shakes too hard to bare at some point (they are way too sweet for me, i'm one of those weirdos that prefers savoury over sweet) & i'd love to have another diet to try :)

I'm so glad CD is going well for you, and it's nice to hear that your happy & successful with it!

Thanks so much again, and good luck to you to! x

I have something i'd like to say, but before i do i'd like anyone who happens to read this to know that i am not, in any way whatsoever, trying to be argumentative or confrontational. That isn't who i am, nor is it my intention. I simply wish to state how i feel.

I understand that sometimes things are said on the internet, and they are taken completely the wrong way. I also understand people can say things and not fully comprehend the way it will make the person they direct it towards feel. If i am mistaken, then i apologise in advance for this comment.

Honestly, i am unsure as to what i did to become judged, and somewhat ganged up on. I see people posting every day in a similar manor to mine, and yet they receive positive encouragement, without attitude.

Personally, i don't believe criticism formed in an non-constructive matter is productive, especially on a site like this - for people to come to to feel safe, to vent & to receive support.

Constructive suggestions, stories about personal journeys & opinions are very welcome - but i don't wish to engage in debate about what should quite frankly be a personal choice, & your own prerogative to form your own views/find out what works for you personally.

At the end of the day, it's my choice what way i diet. Everyone has their own ideas and opinions, and different things work for different people for various reasons. We're all individuals.

I really do genuinely appreciate any support i've received, and kind words of encouragement. Thank you.

Hey Deezombie,

I'm so sorry if my tone appeared judgemental or preechy, that wasn't my intention at all.

I'm glad you're feeling good on LT and on top of your game... a good frame of mind to start the weekend!

Happy holidays!!!

Thanks Melanie. And like i said in our PM, i actually found your comment about your methods of getting by at meals very helpful!

Thanks, i'm looking forward to the weekend! You have a great one to chick x

At least i think you received the reply? I don't know, i don't see it in my outbox lol. Sorry if i didn't hit the send button right! :flirt2:

By no means did i mean to make you feel 'judged' but i was just browsing the site and came across this post - hence the reason i responded.

Like i have said - it is your diet so you do have the right to do it the way you want my point is that there will always be excuses for us to eat/drink when sometimes we really dont need it.

And it's these excuses that inevitably (sp?) got us to where we are/were with regards to our weight.

Thats my personal experience that i learnt whilst on LT. You dont have to eat and drink to enjoy trips away, nights out etc it is all about the company :)

But why would you chose a diet where you are going to change it etc?

Im sorry but its something i feel quite strongly about and those who know me on here know i am a stick to the rules kinda gal and when i bang on about it im not meaning to cause offence just simply stating the facts. :)
