As a child we always gave up sweets and chocolates for lent. As an adult I never really bothered too much with it. But I think this year I am going to revert to my childhood and support my weight loss by giving up syns that are made up of sweets and chocolates. Yes, the weight loss is probably my ulterior motive, but I would like to use this opportunity to meditate on the meaning of the sacrifice and the indulgent and lazy lifestyle that led to my weight gain in the first place, and to take the time to think about how I could really do something meaningful about those people for whom giving up a treat is not an option because they do not have the treats in the first place. Would anybody like to join in and choose something to give up, not only to help their weight loss, but to see if together we could share insights and support each other in a more meaningful way as we consider our own lifestyle and how we could make tiny changes that will positively affect our lives and the people in it?
