I hope it's ok for me to start a new thread. I have been counting cals and mainly eating low carb now for 2 weeks and I decided to join here for some inspiration and to talk to others in the same situation. My husband is very supportive but all my friends are skinny and I don't feel comfortable talking about my weight problems with them.
So far I've lost 11lbs! This was a post holiday diet so I appreciate most of that is probably water, but it still feels nice seeing a lower number on the scale :)
I feel really good and am not really craving anything. But I know it wouldn't take much for me to fall off the wagon, so another reason why I'm here. I have about 6 stone to lose but I'm going to take it a stone at a time. I have a weekend in London booked for the end of October so I'd really like to have lost 2 stone in total by then. That's my first goal.

Hope to get to know some of you soon x

I'm with you on that! Congratulations on your loss so far - 11lb is a great start! x

congrats on your fab weight loss and welcome to this part of minimins, Em x

Thank you both. I have a problem today though :(

I weighed this morning and I have gained about 4lbs! I feel really bloated around my stomach area. I haven't done anything different food wise than I was in the first two week and keeping my cals around 1200. I'm on the 4th day of my period and I know you can retain water at this time, but does it last the whole period? Will this extra 4lb just disappear at the weekend do you think? It's made me really depressed this morning.

I'm drinking about 2L of water a day, plus 3 cups of green tea.

Oh I wouldn't worry, seriously. I can put on so much weight when I'm menstruating but the week after I see the loss. I suggest not stepping on the scale until your official WI Hun to avoid dissapointment *hugs*

Seriously, it happens to a lot of us womenfolk. Keep on drinking the fluids but if you can get your hands on some peppermint tea do drink that. That is SOOO good for bloating in general but especially when you're on your periods.

It's not going to be a problem day :) you're going to eat properly and just accept that as women we will have a week in the month like this. I've out on 5-6lbs during my periods so I totally understand how u feel but it's come right off the week after and some more sometimes!

Please don't be depressed. Go out for a lovely walk to clear your head :) xx

Thank you! This makes me feel better. And yes you're right I shouldn't have weighed this morning but I just felt heavier because of the bloating and wanted to check. xx

That's understandable. Just continue to do as you are and even if you have gained this week you know it's not because of food, it's something you can't control. As I started to lose weight my gains become smaller and smaller when I was on my period and now I'm even losing weight on my period, although not as much. Just keep at it love xx

Your weight will change when you are on your period and even throughout the day. I try to keep my weigh ins at the same time of day for that week. For example I weigh the most in the evenings as I have eaten and usually not gone to the loss. Even liquid will make a difference. Pick up a glass, now fill it with water you can literally feel the weight difference so it all adds up. It is tempting to weigh in every day I know I do it more than I should but its better to do it once a week, some people do it monthly but no way could I leave it that long. Good luck with your weight loss sounds like you are off to a good start.

Thank you. I feel better today and the bloatedness I had yesterday has gone. Someone that I saw today for the first time since July, told me my silhouette has shrunk and I look like a miniature version of me! She doesn't know I'm dieting. I am so chuffed with that comment! No one else has said anything so I think it's just because she hasn't since me for so long. But it's really spurred me on today :)

That's brilliant. It's always a good feeling when someone you've not seen for a while comments on your weight loss xx
