K so we have just got back off hols and today my husband was not paid very much at all so I need budget food. I am not above buying "smart price" stuff already buy some tinned toms pasta peppers etc. please help me figure this out cause I don't want to ruin my hard work by going down the ill have to eat frozen cause it's cheap :( ooooh woe is me lol x thank you x

Welcome to this forum.
Have you got a supermarket near you? if so try to find out when they reduce the food prices, our local Co-op do so several times a day, others at the end of the day, the food will be limited to choice but it's usually cheap, if you go to one of the comparison websites look for special in the supermarket.....
Buy a tray of eggs! good for several meals, make homemade soups, also the tomatoes can be used in a ragu sauce with pasta etc...
God Luck

Frozen veg!

Agree with the above the sainsburys and tesco near me reduce fruit/veg on a night, about 8oclock and get bags of new potatoes for 10p and stuff like that!

Substitute extra lean mince for asda/quorn meat free mince in bolognaise/cottage pie, its cheaper! And go for the first tip for meat and stuff, look for the reduced items. There's always a section in the supermarkets I go with reduced stuff in and there's always meats that go out of date the next day and other such items. You can eat cheaply if you look for stuff like this

Dont forget the baked beans too.
I have been shopping at Aldi because the fruit and veg is really cheap. I don't buy baking potatoes I just buy white the white ones in Aldi and they bake really nicely though they are smaller. I have to agree with the rice being cheap. I don't buy bags of salad anymore just a whole lettuce and take off the amount I need, it lasts longer and doesn't go as limp or brown as quickly.:)

Oh and carrots if you like them, buy a big bag and throw them into everything from soups to salads or steamed. I snack on them raw. I will prob turn into a carrot one day! lol

No tomatoes and beans on offer in my Morrisons - all gone unfortunately :cry:bought loads last week-end but just been for some more.

If you have a Lock and Lock box or any airtight one (not the ones from£1 etc - it has to have a seal round it) put the veg and salad in there - they keep fresh for days.

Thanks all. Are the frozen chicken breasts from asda ok to use. I must admit I'm not a lover of quorn at all. X
