Help! Slow cooker cooking question

Hi if I were to put home made meatballs and chopped potatoes in the slow cooker and fill it up with gravy would this work and how long would it need? I have borrowed one but not sure what to do with it!

You would have to brown the meatballs first then put them in and if it got automatic feature I just use that and leave on all day while at work and ready when you get in or if it has not then low for abt 8hrs or high for abt half that is what I go by on mine, hth.
