BTW I said in an earlier post that there probably was a simple answer to my problem - and now I've found it, it works fine but is not exactly what you'd call a simple solution! Now I have the problem of turning off 'shuffle' as it doesn't switch off even when I press the 'shuffle' icon on and off. Even when I google it there's no easy answer... Well I'll live with it I guess...

I don't know how to do it on a nano only on an ipod touch. On the latter you tap on the picture of the album cover till you go to the screen with a pic of the album cover and the timer bar. On the right hand side is an icon that looks like two crossed arrows. If it's on shuffle the icon is blue, tap it and it turns white meaning shuffle is turned off. Hope that helps someone.
