You got it! Damage limitation is the only option throughout December, especially if you have lots of social events.
We go out every weekend in December, at least once and I'm trying to stay the same this month.
You can be good if you really want to though, some people are very disciplined but we can only do it if we want to - sometimes the temptation is just too great to resist.
I try to be good by having a healthy starter (melon or veg soup) with no bread, main with no sauce or buttered veg and then I have a dessert.
I'm resisting the chocolates so far....
