Does anyone know how to make CD mousse with the mix-a-mousse so that it turns out right every time?

How much water do you add? Do you add a little water first to make a paste with the powder before adding the remaining water?

    Thanks for any replies.

Hi Dis, I did this the first time round and find that it's better to mix the shake powder with the mousse powder first. Then I put in the cold water - whatever the amount said, can't remember and tried to leave it in the fridge until it was set! I remember that if it wasn't eaten soon the flavour sort of disappeared though.. good luck, I'll have to get some more I think... x

Oh and I whizzed it with one of those hand held blender things for quite a while to get lots of air into it...... but you probably know that.

I always do it like this and it never fails.
    • Put approx 200 - 220ml cold water in jug with a couple of ice cubes, leave for 5-10 mins so water gets really chilled.
    • In meantime open CD shake, measure into the packet one scoop of mam and mix it thorughly with a spoon.
If you are naughty like me, try adding half teaspoon of orange flavouring to the vanilla shake when you mix in the mam, its gorgeous.....reminds me of cheesecake. I know we are not supposed to have the mam as well as the flavouring on the same day!
    • Pour the mix into the jug with water and blend with electric stick blender for AGES! After a while bring the stick to the top of the jug, still in the mix and tilt to the side and move up and down. It incorporates loads of little air bubbles this way and gets quite fluffy.
    • Pour into small bowl or ramekins. Can easily be spilt into 3 if wanted.
    • Chill for a good half hour, then tuck in and enjoy xx

Like Butterfly, I used 220ml of liquid, in my case milk. I mixed the MAM into the packet first for a few seconds with a fork (helps when the container is dry too!), then added the milk and used my super powered hand blender, holding it to the side etc to make it all frothy. Used a spoon to wipe the sides down if the container was wet otherwise I'd likely end up with a glob of MAM when I was scraping the container ;) Then chuck it in the freezer for 5 - 10 mins (depending on how long I could wait!), whipped it a bit with a spoon then back in the freezer for a bit longer. Just lovely.

Same as Butterfly although I tended to use slightly less water as I like mine stronger (about 150ml of chilled water) Also used to add a bit of fat free cocoa to the chocolate mix
The trick is in the whisking - try to get a good rolling whisk going

Oh, and put in the freezer for about 10 minutes to set it well.
Do you realise you've put this on the maintainers board?
