how do you tone up when losing so much weight so quickly??

hi just wondered how you toned up and stopped looking so gaunt when losing so much weight in such a short space time, currently doing slimming world and go to the gym with pretty dire results to be honest. have decided to try slim and save but little concerned about how I will tone up as have 5-6 stone to lose, im assuming exercise cardio in particular not good idea as will burn way too many calories but worried will end up with loads saggy skin and wrinkles if drop the weight to quickly. do you think weights would help, or pilates will still keep my 30-45 mins daily brisk walks as have high blood pressure and im sure this is keeping it at bay . any advice gratefully reaceived :) xx
