Im a little bit curious!

I don't work currently, but my last job was at Caterpillar, the company that make the diggers and tractors. It was very hard work! No wonder I was managing to lose at least 4lb a week! It was a horrible, heavy lifting job but I loved the people there and the banter the blokes used to make. And it's quite funny how a 23 year old female has a wide knowledge on how to build and repair tractors :D

Before that I worked at Sainsburys. Hated it, the manager was a dick.

But i'm actually a qualified hairdresser, did a year in the industry after I'd left college and I hated it.

I currently don't work as I am a new mum and a f/t student albeit taken a year out and going back in October to complete my final year in Psychology. I do however volunteer for a helpline for people with mental health problems :)

Im a newly qualified primary school teacher whos worked voluntarily in schools since i was 16, been to uni and got a BA (Hons) in Education Studies and Early Year worked for Kwik Save and Tesco during this time great company but jobwise i hated it!! customers...eurgh haha! Their always right my arse :D! anyway moved onto Nursery Practitioner whilst gaining my Postgraduate Certificate in Early Years Practice and Early Years Professional Status. Left to do my PGCE Primary and since qualifying im currently doing supply......permanent and even temporary contracts are so competitive my job front looks bleak at the moment and forseeable future :( over 50 jobs applied for and 2 interviews out the lot....definitely who you know in this game :( xx

Wow what an amazing thread, I love all the replies, everyone has put lots of information there, brill:D

I always wanted to be a vet, but wasn't considered clever enough, so I left school with few qualifications & did cafe/office work until had my children. Whilst at home with my two I did a degree in Design History with Women's Studies. After that I fell into a job in the Financial Services & I love it, I've taken lots of FS exams & was doing very well until I was told I'm beinng made redundant.

Hey hum, so on Tuesday my new life begins in............................ 'citing times:D

I work as a junior accountant in a department store. I still live with my parents. Help in our household. I have an asian blood running through me. Right now, I can say, this forum, Acai Slim and Liproxenol helped me overcome my depression from a break up. Now I'm on the right track and nearing my goal. :wave_cry:

I work as a PA to the Financial Controller in a group of insurance companies. Can be stressful at times as the Directors are always plotting new ventures, so there's never a quiet moment! The finance team I work with (all 60 odd of them) are generally great people who you can have a laugh with and have been really really supportive over the last few weeks. The whole business ethos is work hard, party hard!

Prior to that I work as PA to the Vice Principal at a college (scary times when having to deal with violent students!) and prior to that as Planning officer (admin and stats work) in the public sector.

I'm educated to HND level in Business Admin, wish I'd carried on to do the BA as well but, after 3 years of full time work and studying in the evenings and at weekends, I'd had enough!

Ooh I like this thread too!

I am a medical writer, it has been my only job as an adult and I've been at it for 7 years. I am loving the company I work for at the moment, I've got fabulous colleagues and the job is enjoyable.

When I was younger I thought I was going to be a forensic psychologist/criminal profiler, and even started off studying psychology, but then added some other stuff in as well. I still find it really interesting, but I think I'm glad I don't do it as a job, I don't think I'm cut out for it!!

I'm a secondary school Science teacher and am currently acting head of dept. I love being a teacher but am totally hating being head of dept- too much work and responsibility. I can't wait til July when the HOD comes back from maternity!

I work as a transport clerk in a well known DIY distribution depot, it is a contract that my employer won just in time for when my last contract ended.

Before this i worked in customer services for many different companies over the years and got to the point that i needed to get away from it.

Love the job i do now and also if it wasnt for the change of direction 4 years ago i would never of met the OH- he is a truck driver :)

I'm a midwife. Commenced nurse training when I was 19, then specialised in cardiology. Changed direction after having my own children and re-trained. Love the job, but detest the working conditions - long hours, no breaks, colleagues with strong personalities, working Xmas day & bank holidays. It's amazing what women can do though. I always try to be kind and I really hope I make a difference.

I'm a Marketing Executive for a business telecoms distributor. I do a lot of creative marketing, so design things like flyers, catalogues, advert and e-shots and edit and produce our monthly tariff guide. I also create visuals for campaigns and conferences, update our social media and website, make sure all our presentations are brand perfect and create all online direct mail.

I always knew I'd do something wordy or creative, but originally wanted to get into TV production. After uni I couldn't get a creative job so decided to go back and do a post grad. I realised I would love to do something to do with books (did an English degree) so plumped for a post grad in Publishing. Again, my thoughts with this were that I would become an editor, however, my first job in publishing saw me as sales and marketing assistant! I then was quickly promoted to marketing exec, however after two years was made redundant. I temped for a while, couldn't find a job in the publishing industry and so that's how I ended up here! I've been doing this role for two years.

I'm a fulltime mum and part time nanny. I always wanted to work with kids, did my NNEB straight out of school at 17 and have been nannying since I was 19. I love my job (mostly) but it is a dead end job and not sure what I will do once the wee one starts nursery in 2013. Not got experience in anything other than childcare.

Being a mum on the other hand was completely unexpected, and the hardest "nanny" job I have ever had

Thanks for all the replies guys, been lovely reading your jobs etc. So many different careers ^_^

Hello - I have just joined today & this seemed like a good place to start!

I work as a Programme Manager for an engineering company, which doesn't really set my world alight!

When I was at school college I had big aspirations to work for a record company in band management, or events organisation - then I got a job, got in debt, skipped uni & the rest is history!
