Interesting snippet

toofatkat

Not such a fat kat now :)
Btw testing snippet in my Good Food magazine . I'd heard it before but wasn't sure what the reasoning behind it is. Now I know.

As healthy as fruit is it isn't that wonderful for us as our bodies process the sugars in it differently so is less likely to be used as energy and more likely to be stored as fat.

Fructose is also used in the food industry so our overall intake has risen. Also it doesn't trigger the hormones that tell us to stop eating.

Aim to eat only 2 of your 5 a day as fruit .

That helps me understand. When I started mfp freaked out when I saw my sugar in the red everyday after a smoothie with breakfast. I think fructose is in some artificial sweetners too. This healthy lifestyle stuff can be pretty stressful! It wasn't that bad a thing. Seeing the mfp stats makes me think about what I'm eating abit more that just the fat/calories. On the other hand, I can only get my head round so much at a time. Still we have the rest of our skinnier lives to make the adjustments...

Yeah I personally won't be giving up my fruit it's what makes dieting easier if I cut that I'd go back to chocolate or sweets I'm sure!

But very interesting! X

Been reading a book about diets lol makes sense kind of :) I am an apple shape I carry nearly all my weight in my middle - stick on a nice coat that hides my tummy I look thin lol

I find it really hard to loose weight off my tummy, so looking at info on why we put weight on round the middle etc.. It seems that if I ate a diet rich in protein, and low GI foods, low/ med carbs and med/high good fats I might shift it..

So looking at Lexie's diary (not dairy) she eats a breakfast of protein and small amount of carbs which I think helps keep her fuller for longer.. Right Lexie? So am going to try that :) and reduce the med/high GI carbs etc which increase blood sugar etc.. Gives ups and downs

Yeah I started the protein for breakfast cos it gets me through to lunch. If I eat carb or bloody porridge by 10 o'clock I'm starving!!!!

Mmm that's my prob too.. I then get the toast munchies.. Was thinking (lol) about when I was a kid - we had bacon, egg and grilled tomatoes no toast for breakfast most mornings not cereal.. My parents ran a B&B lunch was 3-4 bits fruit for me as hated sandwiches, don't remember being hungry, was when I was in high school started eating cereal as that what every one did!? Was always hungry lol

Protein, in my opinion, keeps you fuller for longer. I know they say about porridge & slow release but it really doesn't work like that for me. I know having the same every day maybe isn't good but I just love an egg soaking in to a slice of bread with bacon on top mmmmmm x

All right I give in!! I'm eating egg, toast and bacon and tomatoes for breakfast!

Yeah go for it, I bet you'll be fuller!

Don't forget though that the starcher veg like carrots also have this problem and come under carbs list as well. - sad but true

Sounds great. I think you're right about protein. I've found upping the protein really helpful to keep me full. I've switched some of my faves (eg burgers and sausages) to Linda McCartney vegetarian options. They're high in protein and helped me cut down on meat. Baxters do 'stay full longer' soups that have protein in them through beans and lentils etc. I have a full tin for lunch at work and it keeps me right through 'til dinner. It does seem to stop me getting the munchies so much.

zoes fact of the day.

All root vegetables are from underground obviously so therefore they store energy. we then eat this energy which we know as starch, our bodies take this starch as sugar and we store it as fat.
Its best to limit root veg for the above reason.

this was brought to you by zoe's brain, a limited production.
