Hello all

I just found this site and have spent a day or two reading through old posts and found it all really useful!

I'm male and I'm on Sole Source Plus or, well, my own strange version of it. I'm having a shake, a soup and a bar each day, plus a low cal, no carb meal with some green veg. I also have a bit of milk throughout the day - but it is nowhere near the 200ml.

My losses have been good but, well, I guess I'm just finding it a bit tough. I've not had any alcohol, so I'm not really going out and socialising with friends.

I'm not really hungry and I know I'm in ketosis because my breath stinks - but there are times when I miss food - especially when I smell it.

And I guess I'm just feeling a bit 'down'. I'm starting to wonder whether it is something to do with the diet rather than just how I'm feeling at the moment and I thought I'd post on here to see if anyone else had experience of the diet making them feel a bit rubbish?

I'm finding it a little tough at the moment (I'm in week 5). I don't mind the shakes/soups etc but it's the restrictions on a lot of socialising that's hitting me hard at the min. I'm having to turn down nights out and meals with friends and I feel a little like a recluse. I've started going swimming and spending time with friends and family who understand so that it makes it easier and I don't feel as though I never go anywhere.

Keep your chin up and whenever you feel a little down, pop on here as there's always something to make you smile.

I don't think anyone could ever say that they had a totally 'easy' CD journey. Like anything in life, it has it's ups and downs.
On my first CD trip, I did 10 weeks 100% SS. I rather foolishly started in the summer when there were invites left right and centre for BBQ's, meals out etc. Like previous poster said, I became a social recluse and it did make it tricky at times.
I'm into my 4th week and have so far only had one very bad day, last Saturday, when I fled my house in tears over my hubby's Pizza! I think one of the things about ketosis is that although most of us have little or no hunger when in it, our sense of smell seems to intensify, making all of the food smell incredibly appetising. It's very difficult to deal with if we are having a rough day.
I just keep telling myself that this is a temporary thing and that one day I will be able to eat these things but I will do so in moderation.
I read on someone else's post that whenever they were tempted by food they wrote it down in the back of their diary and promised themselves they would have it when their journey was over. I think this is a brilliant idea.

You've had really good results this far, stick with it and you'll be amazed.

I reckon you are finding it so hard because you are having a meal each day, I couldn't do that and stick to it. I mean if I was able to control my food intake I wouldn't be doing what is essentially a starvation diet. I suggest doing Sole Source 100% and I'm pretty sure you will fin it easy to stick to

Good luck

Hey, I'm on week 9, last week I was invited out for a friends birthday, no food but lots of alcohol, it's not worth spoiling the diet for. It's dangerous and I felt ill for 3 days after and I don't usually get hangovers. I'm on day 3 of 100% again and its even more difficult now than it was when I started, hang in there! Good luck :)

I know the diet is tough...but it's worth it!! Who says you have to be a recluse though? I accept every invite. I'm usually the one organising the nights out and even though I'm not drinking I'm the last to leave the pub :D On most nights the lads all think I'm drunk!!

Life's too short! If you feel the diet is punishing you then you'll bottle it....change your view and you'll have more fun :) That's what I did!

Thanks everyone for your comments and thoughts!

I think there is something to be said for trying to think positively but I guess I just wondered whether anyone had experienced feeling 'down' during the diet and whether they thought it was due to the diet itself or whether it was just coincidence!

I went out last night, went crazy and ended up at Pizza Express. I had a diet coke, three olives, some chicken and some lettuce. And I'm still in ketosis today according to my strips! I know I've probably messed things up a little, and my loss won't be as good this week, but I feel like I needed to do it and I'm back on board today with my tetras! And, as binges go, it was a relatively healthy one!

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

....and remember - this is YOUR choice !

yes, you CAN eat, you CAN drink alcohol, you CAN do anything you want - BUT you've chosen, just for a while, to abstain from the things that have made you unhappy and overweight to get the real you back :D

all the things that you're missing will still be there when you're at GOOOOOOAAAAAL !!!!!

hope that makes sense :)

don't forget to keep us posted with your SUCCESS !

Debz xx
