Is it ok to freeze double cream?

And if so, can I just put the tub in the freezer as it is or do I need to do something to it first?

Yes, I always freeze left over cream, I usually pour it into ice trays and then transfer to ziplock bag. I usually use it in cooking. However, you can also stir it up and use it for cakes etc
